This guide centers on the black-dial stainless-steel bracelet reference JW0110-58E, which Citizen lists with its U706 Eco-Drive movement. Citizen documents an extensive set of timing and travel functions, but its specifications alone cannot establish how comfortable or legible the watch is on your wrist.
What is the Citizen Promaster SST chronograph?
For the JW0110-58E, “SST” describes a racing-focused Promaster with both analog hands and a digital display. Citizen identifies the movement as U706 Eco-Drive. The watch’s dedicated chronograph functions are distinct from ordinary timekeeping: Citizen’s manual warns that “The ‘main time’ second hand does not reflect chronograph timing.” In chronograph mode, use the dedicated chronograph hands and digital display instead.
Citizen lists a chronograph with 1/1000-second precision and a measuring range of up to 24 hours. That is the manufacturer’s stated specification, not an independent timing test. Other listed functions include world time for 43 cities across 31 time zones, split and lap timing, average-speed calculation, memory for 20 laps, an alarm, a 99-minute countdown timer, a perpetual calendar, and a red LED backlight. Citizen’s JW0110-58E product page provides the model-specific specifications.
How does the SST race timer work?
Race mode uses a lap distance entered by the wearer to calculate average speed. It is not GPS-based and does not measure a course distance automatically. The U70* manual says the watch can time up to 99 laps, while retaining only the most recent 20 in memory. The product-page specification likewise lists 20-lap memory.

- Set the watch first. Select the city or time zone, then set the main time and calendar. The manual explains that analog time and world times are driven by the main time and calendar setting.
- Enter the lap distance. Set the distance relevant to the course or lap before relying on race-mode speed calculations. An incorrect distance will make the resulting average-speed figure unsuitable for that course.
- Start and record laps in race mode. Follow the U70* manual’s controls for starting the timing and recording laps. Use the dedicated chronograph indication, not the main time second hand.
- Recall stored results promptly. The watch may time as many as 99 laps, but only the last 20 are stored, so older results are not retained in the memory.

These are specifications from Citizen’s US product listing. Citizen associates its 200-meter rating with swimming, showering, and snorkeling. That is the manufacturer’s guidance, not a claim that this article has independently tested the watch’s water resistance.

How JW0110-58E differs from JW0137-51E
JW0137-51E is a separate, redesigned Promaster SST reference, not another finish of the exact JW0110-58E configuration. Citizen’s listings show differences in case size and appearance; specifications for one model should not be assumed to apply to the other.

Citizen lists timing functions on both product pages, but the JW0137-51E page’s 24 mm lug measurement does not establish strap interchangeability with JW0110-58E. Citizen’s US page marks JW0110-58E discontinued and sold out. That status does not establish what a particular retailer or resale marketplace has in stock now. The official listing establishes the watch’s stated materials, dimensions, functions, and water-resistance rating. It does not establish how the 44 mm case wears on a particular wrist, whether the digital display is easy to read in bright light, how the buttons feel, or how conveniently the bracelet and clasp operate. Those are hands-on questions that require wearing and operating this reference under real conditions; they should not be inferred from the specification sheet.
