There is no verified, like-for-like $300 Citizen versus $6,000 Omega price comparison in the available current US listings. Citizen lists the Promaster Dive BN0266-07E at $450 and its larger 300 m BJ8050-08E at $500; the exact Omega reference behind the $6,000 figure is not established. The useful comparison is between specific references: Citizen offers practical Eco-Drive dive watches at substantially lower listed prices, while the Seamaster Diver 300M adds a mechanical movement, Master Chronometer certification on the cited range, and a different level of finishing and brand appeal. The Omega is not automatically a better practical dive instrument because it costs more.
First, check what the price comparison actually means
“Promaster” and “Seamaster” are collections, not single watches. Their cases, movements, materials, water-resistance ratings, and prices vary by reference. A meaningful comparison names the exact model and checks prices in the same market on the same date.
As of the Citizen US product listings accessed in 2026, the BN0266-07E is listed at $450 and the 48 mm BJ8050-08E at $500. Those prices do not verify the title’s $300 Citizen figure. The available evidence also does not establish a current US price for the specific Seamaster behind the $6,000 figure. Treat both title numbers as approximate framing, not a confirmed current price pair; no precise savings calculation follows from them.
Which specific watches are being compared?
| Model | Case and water resistance | Movement and crystal | Listed price or launch price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citizen Promaster Dive BN0266-07E | 40.6 mm; 200 m / 20 bar | Eco-Drive E168; sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating | $450 on Citizen’s US product page, accessed 2026 |
| Citizen Promaster BJ8050-08E | 48 mm; 300 m / 30 bar | Eco-Drive B873; mineral crystal | $500 on Citizen’s US product page, accessed 2026 |
| Citizen Professional Diver 300 m BN1024-01E/01Z | 300 m saturation-diving resistance described by Citizen | Eco-Drive E365; one-year run time on a full charge | USD 675 projected launch price in Citizen Watch Global’s February 21, 2025 announcement; not a current US street price |
| OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M, revised range announced in 2024 | 42 mm; 300 m collection designation | Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806; domed sapphire crystal | Not stated for a specific reference in the cited range announcement |
These are examples, not a universal Promaster-versus-Seamaster specification sheet. OMEGA has issued multiple Diver 300M variants; the 2025 orange editions, for example, use an aluminum dial and bezel, which should not be generalized to other references.

What the Citizen Promaster offers
BN0266-07E: the closer everyday-size example
The BN0266-07E combines a 40.6 mm stainless-steel case, 200 m water resistance, Eco-Drive caliber E168, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a polyurethane strap. Citizen describes the model as delivering ISO-certified dive performance and lists a five-year limited warranty on its US product page. At the listed $450 price, it is a concrete current US example of a Promaster—not proof of a $300 price.
See the Citizen Promaster Dive BN0266-07E on Citizen’s US site.
BJ8050-08E: more rated depth, much more case
The BJ8050-08E is rated to 300 m / 30 bar and uses Citizen’s B873 Eco-Drive movement, but its 48 mm case is substantially larger than the BN0266-07E’s. It has a mineral crystal, polyurethane strap, and five-year limited warranty; Citizen’s US listing shows $500. The deeper rating does not make it the more suitable choice for every wearer: case size and intended use matter, and the two models are not interchangeable stand-ins for “a $300 Promaster.”

BN1024: a separate professional-diver proposition
In its February 21, 2025 announcement, Citizen described the BN1024-01E/01Z as a Professional Diver 300 m designed for saturation diving, with a helium escape valve and ISO-standard 300 m saturation-diving resistance. Citizen said its E365 Eco-Drive caliber runs for one year on a full charge and projected a USD 675 launch price. That figure is a launch projection, not confirmation of current US availability or street price.
What the Seamaster Diver 300M adds
OMEGA’s November 2024 announcement described a revised 42 mm Diver 300M range with domed sapphire crystal, a choice of mesh bracelet or rubber strap, and Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806. The helium escape valve at 10 o’clock is a recognizable feature of the design. The exact materials and configuration depend on the reference: OMEGA’s July 2025 orange editions, for example, use an aluminum dial and bezel.
OMEGA says Master Chronometer testing is certified by METAS for the 2025 orange models. That certification and the mechanical movement are meaningful specification distinctions from the cited Citizen Eco-Drive examples. They do not, by themselves, prove that a particular Seamaster is a more capable everyday dive watch or that it is worth its price to a given buyer.

OMEGA’s October 5, 2026 announcement introduced a Bond/Spectre collection of six 42 mm Diver 300M models powered by Calibre 8806. This is a special collection announcement, not evidence of the price or configuration of every standard Seamaster Diver 300M.
How to compare them for your use
Movement and power
The cited Promaster models use Eco-Drive, which converts light into electrical power; the BN1024 announcement specifies a one-year run time on a full charge. The cited Seamaster range uses a mechanical automatic movement, Calibre 8806. This is a difference in how the watches are powered and maintained, not a simple ranking: choose the system you prefer living with.

Case fit and materials
Compare the exact case dimensions and try the watch on if possible. The 40.6 mm BN0266-07E and 48 mm BJ8050-08E illustrate how widely fit varies within Promaster. The 2024 Seamaster range cited here is 42 mm, but diameter alone does not establish comfort; thickness, lug shape, strap or bracelet, and clasp also affect wear. The cited source details do not establish thickness or clasp specifications for a like-for-like comparison, so check the exact reference before buying.

Water resistance and dive intent
Water-resistance ratings are manufacturer specifications, not guarantees that a watch is safe at the stated depth under every condition. Citizen identifies the BN0266-07E as ISO-certified for dive performance; its BN1024 announcement specifically describes saturation diving and a helium escape valve. For the Seamaster, consult the exact model’s manual and classification rather than assuming every collection variant is intended for the same use. OMEGA’s guidance explains that a helium escape valve is for saturation diving, not a feature that makes ordinary swimming safer.
Price, ownership, and what is subjective
Use current prices for exact references from the same country and note whether a figure is a manufacturer listing, retailer price, or temporary promotion. The cited information does not establish comparative lifetime service costs or reliability, so neither should be inferred from the initial price or movement type alone. Finishing, design, METAS certification, and the Omega name may matter greatly to one buyer and little to another; those preferences are not objective dive-performance measurements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Water-resistance checks and care
OMEGA’s user guidance calls for periodic water-resistance testing by an authorized service center. Before exposing any watch to water, follow the manual for its exact reference and ensure the crown and any controls are in their required positions. A rating should not substitute for an inspection of an aging, damaged, or recently serviced watch.
Which one should you buy?
- Choose a Promaster such as the BN0266-07E if you want a mid-size, light-powered dive-style watch with sapphire crystal and a manufacturer-stated 200 m rating at a listed US price far below the cited Seamaster price framing.
- Consider the BJ8050-08E if its 300 m rating is relevant to you and you are comfortable with a 48 mm case and mineral crystal.
- Consider the Seamaster Diver 300M if you specifically value its mechanical movement, the cited range’s Master Chronometer credentials, design, materials, and brand, and are willing to pay the verified price for the exact reference.
- For saturation diving, assess the BN1024 and the exact Seamaster reference against their manuals, classifications, and intended operating conditions; a collection name or depth figure alone is not enough.
There is no defensible universal winner from the headline prices. The documented difference is that the cited Citizen examples provide Eco-Drive and stated dive ratings at lower listed US prices, while the cited Seamaster range offers a mechanical Calibre 8806 and Master Chronometer certification. Whether the additional cost is worthwhile depends on the exact models and the features you personally value.
