The Citizen AQ4100-65L pairs a hand-dyed indigo Tosa washi dial with the light-powered A060 Eco-Drive movement, which Citizen rates to ±5 seconds per year. Announced in 2024 as a limited edition for the centenary of the first CITIZEN-branded watch, it was planned as a 600-piece worldwide release. Those are launch details—not evidence of current stock or resale value.
What is the Citizen AQ4100-65L?
The AQ4100-65L is a The CITIZEN limited-edition watch announced by Citizen in Japan on May 14, 2024. The company positioned it as a celebration of 100 years since the first CITIZEN-branded watch, with a planned release date of May 28, 2024. Citizen described it as the first The CITIZEN model to combine a hand-dyed indigo washi dial with a blue case and bracelet. The launch announcement specified 600 pieces worldwide. Citizen Japan’s launch announcement and its global announcement provide the launch context.
How the indigo washi dial is made
The dial is made from Tosa washi, a Japanese paper that Citizen says transmits light for use with Eco-Drive. For this pattern, the paper is wrapped around a tube, gathered into fine wrinkles and dyed repeatedly with natural indigo using pole-wrap shibori. Citizen notes that the technique is usually used to dye fabric. The result is a material-led dial whose irregular pattern comes from the dyeing process rather than a printed motif. Citizen says the first The CITIZEN hand-dyed indigo washi-dial model appeared in 2022; the AQ4100-65L develops that approach in this centenary edition.
A060 movement: accuracy and everyday functions
The A060 is a light-powered Eco-Drive quartz caliber. Citizen rates its accuracy at ±5 seconds per year. That is the manufacturer’s specification, not an independently measured result for this individual watch.

As an editorial judgment, this model is most compelling for someone who values a distinctive paper-and-indigo dial and a highly accurate, light-powered movement in the same watch. Its appeal is less about the limited-edition number alone than the combination of a traditional dyeing technique with a movement designed to minimize routine time and calendar adjustments. Citizen’s published material establishes the specifications and launch story; it does not provide independent test results for real-world accuracy, charging behavior or wear comfort.
