“Clifton Baumatic Moon Phases” describes more than one Baume & Mercier watch. The key distinction is straightforward: reference 10756 is a 39 mm date-and-moon-phase model, while 10725 is a larger 42 mm watch that adds a day display. Both are listed with a 120-hour power reserve and 50 m water resistance. Their restrained steel cases, blue dials and moon-phase displays make “understated luxury” a reasonable interpretation of the design—not a measurable specification.
Which Clifton Baumatic Moon Phase is which?
Start with the reference number. The official Clifton collection includes multiple moon-phase watches, so the family name alone does not identify the size or dial layout. The two documented models below are distinct configurations, not alternate descriptions of one watch.

Baume & Mercier’s official 10756 product page describes an automatic self-winding watch with a sapphire caseback and interchangeable strap. The 10725 product page describes the additional day indication at 12 o’clock; its moon display is at 6 o’clock, with the date in that subdial area. The 10725’s more elaborate layout and larger case are the practical differences to weigh if you are choosing between these references.

Baume & Mercier describes the Clifton collection as a blend of classic and contemporary interpretations, using round cases in stainless steel or 18K gold and Baumatic movements. On the 10756, the brand documents a polished and satin-finished steel case, gradient blue lacquer dial, rhodium-plated details and a moon-phase aperture at 6 o’clock. The Clifton collection page also lists 10758 and 10736 as 39 mm moon-phase/date models, reinforcing why the exact reference matters.

The combination of a conventional round case, cool-toned dial and relatively contained complication can read as discreet rather than showy. That is a design judgment, not a claim about how the watch looks or feels in person; no independent wear or comfort testing is established here.
How the Baumatic reserve and moon phase work
Baume & Mercier’s Baumatic setting guide says a fully wound automatic watch has approximately 120 hours (five days) of power reserve. If the watch has stopped after several days off the wrist, the guide recommends about 50 clockwise turns of the crown before use and cautions against shaking the watch to wind it. Consult the instructions for the exact reference if its setting procedure differs.

The moon display uses a disk that turns once per lunar month, according to the Baumatic user guide. In its general moon-phase explanation, Baume & Mercier gives the synodic month as 29.53 days and describes a common mechanism using a 59-tooth wheel for two lunar cycles. The brand says this kind of mechanism may need correction about every three years. That is a general explanation, not published reference-by-reference drift or accuracy testing for the Clifton models discussed here.
Setting precautions to know before adjusting it
The Baumatic guide warns that setting the day, date or moon phase between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. can cause corrector buttons to jam or damage the movement. Follow the exact user guide for your watch rather than applying a general setting sequence to every Clifton reference.

Availability, price and warranty depend on the specific watch
Baume & Mercier labels the 10756 and 10725 as heritage pieces no longer available through their own product pages. That does not mean every authorized dealer or pre-owned seller is out of stock. At access on October 12, 2026, Wempe’s US listing showed reference M0A 10756 available for $5,400 excluding tax. This is one retailer’s observed listing, not a guaranteed current quote or a market-wide price. Check the reference, condition, included papers and box, return terms and stock with the seller before buying.
Baume & Mercier’s US moon-phase page states a 24-month warranty and says Baumatic models may be covered for up to eight years. Those statements do not establish eligibility for a particular pre-owned watch or third-party purchase. Confirm the terms for the individual watch, purchase route and country with the brand or seller.

What to compare when choosing a reference
For a direct 10756-versus-10725 decision, match the watch to the size and display you want: the 10756 is the smaller date-and-moon-phase configuration; the 10725 is larger and adds the day display. When evaluating an actual listing, compare the reference number, case dimensions, dial and strap configuration, condition, seller, price, return policy and warranty eligibility. The available specifications do not establish a performance ranking or value-for-money verdict between them.
