Credor’s Locomotive returned in two distinct stages: first as the 2024 GCCR999 limited edition for the brand’s 50th anniversary, then as the 2025 GCCR997, a green-dial model that began a new design series. Credor traces the original Locomotive to Gérald Genta and 1979; the GCCR997 is inspired by that design, not the same watch as the anniversary edition.
Credor reintroduces the Genta-designed Locomotive watch
Credor was established in 1974. The brand says Gérald Genta designed the Locomotive, first released in 1979, and describes it as a watch that helped establish Credor’s individual character. The 2024 return marked Credor’s 50th anniversary, but the follow-up was not simply another announcement of the same limited edition.
The first model was the GCCR999, a 2024 anniversary edition. Credor announced the GCCR997 on February 5, 2025, as a new model in the Locomotive design series. Its green dial gives the design a different expression while retaining the family’s geometric language.

The two prices are tied to different models, regions, currencies and announcement dates, so they are not a like-for-like price comparison. Neither figure establishes a current offer or the watch’s present availability.

What changed with the green-dial GCCR997?
Credor says the GCCR997’s dial color takes its cue from a green railway signal. Its repeating hexagonal pattern draws on the shape of the case and bezel, extending the Locomotive’s geometric character across the dial. The new model therefore carries the design forward through a clear visual change rather than presenting itself as the 2024 anniversary watch in another release.
The case and bracelet are made of high-intensity titanium. The official product page lists a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on its inner surface, a date display and a three-hand layout. Its slim 8.9 mm profile keeps the watch under 9 mm thick, according to Credor.

Why the anniversary edition matters to the story
The GCCR999 established the Locomotive’s return as part of Credor’s anniversary year. In May 2024 coverage of that release, Fratello attributed a comment to Evelyne Genta, Gérald Genta’s wife: “My husband would have loved the new watch because it was made with great respect to his original sketch, capturing all the subtleties he had included in its design. I think the new Locomotive is the perfect evolution of the original as it contains so much of my husband’s creative DNA.” Her remarks referred to the 2024 anniversary model, not the 2025 GCCR997.

Release and price: what is established
Credor’s February 5, 2025 announcement said worldwide availability for the GCCR997 would start in May 2025 and listed a recommended European retail price of €14,500 at the time. The announcement warned that prices and specifications could change. That launch-era recommendation should not be read as a verified current price, and the stated timing does not confirm current stock. Credor’s official site provides an authorized-dealer route for checking where the watch may be available.
