CWC currently lists the watch as the “CWC Military Pilots Mechanical Chronograph,” model 6BB-WR. It is a contemporary retail watch, not a newly issued vintage military piece. CWC describes it as an iteration of its historical 6BB design, updated with automatic winding, sapphire crystal and 10 ATM water resistance in a June 7, 2024 announcement (CWC’s release announcement).
CWC’s product description calls the watch rooted in “over five decades of operational history.” That is the manufacturer’s characterization of the design’s lineage; it should not be read as evidence that this modern retail model itself has been in operational service for five decades (CWC product page).
Is the CWC 6BB-WR automatic?
Yes. CWC specifies the Sellita SW510 BH b automatic chronograph movement. That distinguishes the current 6BB-WR from a hand-wound chronograph, though it does not establish a service interval, accuracy figure or reliability rate; the product listing does not provide those figures.

These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent measurements. The 49 mm lug-to-lug span and 14.9 mm thickness are useful figures to compare against a watch that already fits you, but they cannot predict how the case will sit on every wrist (CWC product page).
How big is the CWC 6BB-WR?
The case measures 42 mm across, or 43.5 mm including the crown, with a 49 mm lug-to-lug span and 14.9 mm thickness. CWC lists the weight as 80 g. Those figures give a more useful sizing picture than diameter alone: compare both the lug-to-lug measurement and thickness with watches you find comfortable, and account for the crown when considering width on your wrist. No hands-on fit assessment is implied by these specifications.

Is the CWC 6BB-WR water resistant?
CWC rates it to 10 ATM (100 m) and lists a sapphire crystal. The rating is the manufacturer’s stated water-resistance specification; it is not a guarantee against damage in every use or after wear, impact or servicing. Follow CWC’s care guidance and have water resistance checked as appropriate rather than treating the number as a promise for a particular activity.
What strap fits the CWC 6BB-WR?
The watch has fixed bars and a listed 20 mm strap width. The bars change what “fits” means: a conventional spring-bar strap is not a safe assumption because it is designed to attach to removable spring bars. CWC lists a military strap category, but that alone does not confirm that every strap in the category fits this model. The standard listing specifies a 20 mm military grey strap; the tropical edition is described as supplied with a brown leather strap or another chosen strap.
