What changed in the 2025 SUB 200 refresh?
Announced on May 6, 2025, the update introduced a polished stainless-steel bezel insert as a new finish for the SUB 200. DOXA described it as a first for the line and said the steel option would join, not replace, the sapphire-insert version. The announcement called it a seasonal refresh of the existing platform, rather than a new generation. DOXA’s launch announcement explains the change.
The steel insert reflects light with a polished surface, giving the watch a brighter appearance. DOXA presents that as a different visual expression; Fratello described the steel version as cleaner and more versatile. Those are design judgments, not measured performance or durability differences. The available sources do not establish that either finish is more scratch-resistant or better suited to diving.
Steel or sapphire: what is the practical difference?

For a fair visual comparison, match the dial color and strap or bracelet as closely as possible. The bezel is not the only visible variable: DOXA offered multiple dial colors and attachment options, so a steel-versus-sapphire impression can be confounded by different configurations. Fratello’s May 2025 launch coverage also characterizes the update as a small modification with a significant visual effect; that framing is editorial, not a quantified result.

At launch, DOXA listed matching FKM rubber straps and its stainless-steel beads-of-rice bracelet; the Sea Emerald configuration was also noted with a NATO strap. The exact combinations depend on color and configuration, so check the selected regional product reference rather than assuming every dial is offered with every strap. SUB 200 specifications that remain relevant
DOXA’s product page lists the SUB 200 as a 42 mm stainless-steel automatic diver with 200 m / 20 ATM water resistance and a 38-hour power reserve. It also lists a 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) movement rate and a 19 mm lug width. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Confirm the exact reference and regional listing when checking a particular configuration.
The 19 mm figure is the lug width, not a guarantee that any 19 mm strap will fit: attachment style, end pieces, and the specific configuration can matter. DOXA’s page lists official SUB 200 strap choices; verify fit before substituting another strap.

Price: separate launch figures from today’s listing
Prices in the available sources refer to different markets, dates, and configurations and should not be treated as directly comparable. Fratello reported these euro launch prices in May 2025: €970 for Sea Emerald on nylon, €1,110 for FKM-strap models, and €1,150 for a bracelet configuration. These are historical, configuration-specific figures. On October 8, 2026, DOXA’s US product page displayed USD 1,290 for the page variant checked; it is a volatile listing price, not a universal price for every SUB 200 or market. Check the current listing for the exact reference.
Is the SUB 200 II the steel-bezel SUB 200?
No. DOXA announced the SUB 200 II on March 24, 2026, as a separate model development. Its published details include a 44 mm diameter, 12.80 mm thickness, fumé dials, and an aluminum bezel insert—not the 2025 SUB 200’s polished steel insert. Does a small bezel change make a big difference?
Visually, it can: a polished steel insert gives the familiar SUB 200 a brighter, more reflective look while preserving the established 42 mm platform. Whether that difference is better is a matter of taste, and the cited sources do not provide sales data, buyer-preference research, or controlled comparisons showing a measurable commercial or performance effect. The practical choice is therefore between two appearances, not a documented upgrade in capability.
