Numbering and caseback
The bezel-side engraving gives each watch an individual number. That detail does not by itself mean the reference is a limited edition: DOXA’s page for SKU 840.80.031.15 does not state a production limit.

How it relates to Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt
A historical account on Doxa300T.com says Cussler received an orange-dial SUB 300T in 1969 and later chose an orange DOXA for his fictional hero Dirk Pitt. The account also says a 2002 SUB 300T Seahunter reissue honoring Cussler was limited to 1,000 pieces and that Cussler received number 1. Those historical details concern earlier watches, not the specifications or production quantity of SKU 840.80.031.15.

Do not confuse it with the 93-piece Sharkhunter
DOXA also lists a distinct SUB 300T Sharkhunter Clive Cussler, SKU 840.80.101.15. DOXA states that this separate version is limited to 93 watches. It has a similar aged-steel treatment, 300 m rating, and 38-hour reserve, but it is a different reference; the 93-piece limit does not apply to the compass-dial SKU 840.80.031.15.
