The name covers different references, though: the automatic DT and DT Vintage 1946 use a Valjoux 7751-based movement and offer calendar indications and moonphase, while the hand-wound R92 Vintage has a skeletonized dial and a different Valjoux movement. A 2013 hands-on report spent three weeks with the DT Vintage 1946; its comfort and legibility comments are the writer’s personal impressions, not universal findings.
What the Grand Dome looks like on the wrist
The reviewed models share a substantial, elongated tonneau case. Patrick Kansa’s 2012 review gives dimensions of 37 mm wide by 52 mm tall for the Grand Dome it discusses. Those measurements describe the cited model, not a confirmed specification for every reference. The proportions and four-circle arrangement down the center of the dial give the watch a more unusual presence than a conventional round chronograph.
In a three-week account of the DT Vintage 1946, A Timely Perspective’s writer described the watch as bold, comfortable and functional on their wrist. That is one person’s experience; fit depends on wrist shape and preference, and a 52 mm case length is worth considering before buying.
Which Grand Dome reference is it?
Check the exact reference before comparing specifications. The DT and DT Vintage 1946 are automatic watches with a Valjoux 7751 base. The R92 Vintage is a separate, hand-wound watch with a vintage Valjoux R92 movement. Their winding, displays and complications are not interchangeable.

What the DT Vintage 1946 hands-on report found
A Timely Perspective’s writer reported wearing the DT Vintage 1946 for three weeks. The article identifies it as a limited edition of 65 worldwide and describes a steel 37 × 52 mm case, 48-hour reserve, full calendar, moonphase and chronograph. Those edition and specification details belong to that report and reference.
Comfort and legibility
The writer found the watch comfortable despite its bold proportions, but reported difficulty reading the hands both in bright sun and in darker conditions. Treat this as a useful individual observation rather than a controlled legibility test or a claim about every Grand Dome dial.

Dial appeal and trade-off
The DT’s multiple indications and circles create a busy display; the skeletonized R92 makes the movement itself more visible but brings its own reading challenge. In his 2012 review, Patrick Kansa wrote: “One thing I’m not so keen on is the large logo across the top of the dial, under the double-domed sapphire crystal.” That is his personal reaction, not a consensus assessment.
