How large is the 09800, and what does that mean in practice?
At 43 mm across and 16.4 mm thick, the 09800 has substantial listed dimensions for a watch that also has a chronograph and a 300 m rating. Those measurements describe the case, not how it will sit on a particular wrist: lug shape, strap flexibility, wrist circumference, and personal preference all affect fit. No hands-on wrist assessment is available, so try it on if possible rather than treating diameter alone as a fit verdict.

Strap sizing is reference-specific. The 09800 listing gives a 20 mm lug width, while the 01123 listing gives 22 mm and the Costco 01121 entry gives 24 mm. Measure or verify the exact watch before ordering a replacement; the Grand Ocean name does not establish compatibility or OEM status.
What does the 300 m water-resistance rating mean?
Edox Japan rates the 09800 and 01123 at 300 m / 30 ATM. That is a manufacturer-listed specification, not a guarantee that a particular used watch remains water-resistant or proof of independent dive-instrument performance. Ageing seals, impact to crowns or pushers, and opening the case can affect resistance.

Edox’s instruction manual recommends: “We therefore recommend that you have the water resistance of your timepiece checked every 2 years or whenever the timepiece case is opened.” For a used example, ask for service history and a current pressure test rather than relying on the original rating. How does the 09800 compare with the 01123?
The 09800 is the smaller of these two official Japanese listings, at 43 mm versus 45 mm, but it is thicker at 16.4 mm versus 15.2 mm. It has a blue dial and steel bezel; the 01123 uses a black dial, gold-PVD steel case, and high-tech ceramic unidirectional bezel. Their stated reserves differ by about 16 hours, and their lug widths differ by 2 mm. Both are listed at 300 m / 30 ATM. These distinctions may matter more to a buyer than the shared Grand Ocean name.

The October 8, 2026 Japan-page prices differ by ¥220,000, but that is not a like-for-like value conclusion: the references have different finishes and specifications, and the figures are geographically and temporally specific.
