Farer Aqua Compressor Automatic Titanium Series II Review

The Farer Aqua Compressor Titanium Series II is defined by a distinctive compressor-style case, twin crowns and full lume. Here’s what is established—and what later Series III specifications cannot verify.

The Farer Aqua Compressor Automatic Titanium Series II is best understood through its distinctive compressor-style case, twin crowns and internal elapsed-time bezel. An independent reviewer, in a quotation reproduced on Farer’s review page, singled out the case and dial as “knockouts,” while noting that the full-lume treatment may divide opinion. The available material does not establish a complete Series II specification sheet, so later Series III figures should not be mistaken for specifications of this watch.

What stands out about the Series II

The strongest evidence about the watch’s appeal is the reviewer reaction Farer reproduces on its review page, which links to A Blog to Watch. The reviewer writes: “I can’t speak… about the entire Farer Aqua Compressor line, but the case and dial alone here are knockouts. The full lume approach will certainly be gimmicky to some, but it adds fun without sacrificing any functionality, and that isn’t so easy these days.” Farer’s page displays “04 Apr” without a year, so the date cannot be pinned down from that page alone.

That reaction captures the design’s central trade-off: the Aqua Compressor’s glowing dial is an expressive choice, not a conventional, restrained diver-watch look. The available review material supports praise for the case and dial, but it does not establish controlled performance testing or a complete set of Series II measurements.

How the compressor case and crowns work

Farer explains the super-compressor concept as a case in which external water pressure compresses the seals. The company traces the original idea to an EPSA design developed in 1956 and says its modern Aqua Compressor was designed from a blank sheet using modern seals, machining and titanium. These are Farer’s descriptions of the design, not independent test findings.

MIDO Ocean Star 200 - Swiss Automatic Watch for Men - 42.5mm Titanium Case - Anthracite Dial - Titanium Bracelet - M0264304406100
  • Swiss Made Watch
  • Movement: Automatic MIDO caliber with Day/Date calendar - Power reserve 80 hours
  • Case Type: Diver-style Titanium case with black rotating bezel - Capable of withstanding pressures of up to 20 bar (200 m/660 ft), and equipped with a screw-down crown, this watch offers optimal protection against water.
  • Case Size: 42.5mm - Case Thickness: 11.8mm - Anthracite color dial offering indexes filled with Super-Luminova and skeletonised hands - Crystal: Sapphire crystal with double sided anti-reflection treatment
  • Band Type: Titanium bracelet - Folding clasp with diving extension - Band Width: 22mm

The two crowns serve separate functions: one operates the internal rotating elapsed-time bezel, while the other is used to set the time. The internal bezel lets a diver or wearer track elapsed time without an external bezel projecting beyond the case. For Series II, however, the available sources do not establish every operating detail or a model-specific instruction manual.

Water resistance: follow the manufacturer’s instructions

Farer states that its Titanium Series is rated to 300 m / 1,000 ft with the crowns secured. The company also says the watch remains watertight to 100 m / 330 ft if the winding crown is not screwed down, while advising owners to screw it down before diving. These are manufacturer claims; the available sources do not provide independent verification of those ratings. For a Series II watch, consult its own documentation and ensure the crowns are secured as directed before exposure to water.

What Series III specifications can—and cannot—tell you

Farer’s current Endeavour Aqua Compressor Titanium Series III listing provides detailed specifications for that later generation, not a confirmed specification sheet for the Series II reviewed here. The page, observed on 2026-10-07, lists a Grade 2 titanium case measuring 41.5 mm across, 45 mm lug-to-lug and 12.5 mm deep, with a 20 mm lug width. It also specifies 300 m / 30 ATM water resistance, a 2.2 mm double-domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating, and a 1.6 mm flat sapphire exhibition back. Those measurements and materials should not be transferred to Series II without generation-specific confirmation.

The same Series III page identifies a La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement with 24 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and approximately 68 hours of power reserve. Farer’s earlier explanatory article describes previous versions with a Sellita SW200-1 adjusted to three positions and 26 jewels, but it does not establish that configuration for Series II. The available sources therefore do not confirm the reviewed Series II movement or its reserve.

Certina, Mens, DS Action Diver 38mm Powermatic 80, Titanium, Swiss Automatic, Watch, Anthracite, Titanium, 19, (C0328074408100)
  • Case Size: 12.20 mm, Band Width: 38.00 mm, Case Thickness: 38.00 mm
  • Swiss Automatic movement, Titanium case, DATE, Grey band
  • Band Type : Titanium, Band Length: 175mm
  • Water-resistant Diver's watch 300m according to ISO 6425:2018
  • 2 Year International Warranty

Series III’s listed configuration includes a black grained dial, applied luminous markers, luminous hands and a quick-release natural rubber strap with a titanium buckle. Its internal rotating bezel is unidirectional. These are useful details when considering the later model, but they do not verify Series II’s exact dial, bezel, strap or dimensions.

Strap and bracelet fit

Farer lists a 20 mm lug width and quick-release rubber strap for the Series III. That gives a useful search term—“20 mm quick-release rubber watch strap”—but it is not proof that every such strap fits a Series II Aqua Compressor. Check the actual watch’s lug width, end-link or attachment design, and clearance before buying. Farer also offers an Aqua Compressor titanium bracelet through its direct shop, but compatibility with a particular Series II example should be confirmed with the seller or manufacturer.

Price, availability and charitable giving

On 2026-10-07, Farer’s Series III Endeavour listing showed a price of £1,250 and marked the product sold out, alongside the notice “VERSION IV LAUNCHES NOVEMBER.” This is a dated snapshot of the later-generation product page; stock and launch information can change. It does not establish the Series II’s original price, present availability or resale value.

The same Series III page said that a portion of Aqua Compressor profits goes to the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust and reported £68,500 raised toward a £75,000 goal. Farer’s earlier explanatory article separately mentions a £25 donation per watch for earlier versions. These are distinct statements from different pages and generations; the earlier per-watch figure should not be treated as the current donation arrangement.

Verdict

The Series II’s clearest appeal is its bold combination of titanium, compressor-inspired design, twin crowns, an internal elapsed-time bezel and an intentionally vivid lume treatment. The reproduced independent review is notably enthusiastic about the case and dial, while acknowledging that the full-lume look will not suit everyone. Buyers comparing a Series II listing should verify the exact dimensions, movement, water-resistance instructions, included strap or bracelet and condition for that specific watch rather than relying on Series III specifications.
