Fears Brunswick is a family of cushion-case watches, not one fixed specification. The cited Brunswick 38 Polar White is manually wound, the Brunswick 40 Fears Blue is automatic, and the 39 Perpetual Calendar adds a much more complex movement and a substantially higher reported price. Case dimensions, movements and strap details vary by reference, so choose by the exact model rather than the Brunswick name alone.
Which Fears Brunswick is which?
The clearest differences are size, movement and complication. Fears’ official pages list the 38 Polar White and 40 Fears Blue; T3 reviewed a separate 38 Salmon; Fratello reported on the 39 Perpetual Calendar. These examples are representative, not a complete inventory of every Brunswick reference.

How do the case sizes compare on the wrist?
The nominal millimetre figure is only one part of fit. The Polar White measures 42mm lug-to-lug, while the 40 Blue is longer at 46.5mm. Fratello gives the 39 Perpetual Calendar a 45.5mm lug-to-lug measurement. Those dimensions can help narrow a choice, but wrist shape and the cushion case’s broad outline also affect how a watch feels.
In T3’s personal review of the 38 Salmon, Sam Cross found the cushion case wore larger than a round 38mm watch might suggest, while still feeling comfortable to him. That is an individual impression of one reference, not a fit test of the whole Brunswick range.

What strap fits a Fears Brunswick?
For the cited Brunswick 38 Polar White and Brunswick 40 Fears Blue, Fears specifies a 20mm lug width. The 38 page says 20mm straps can be changed without tools using quick-release spring bars; the 40 page also says straps designed for a 20mm lug width can be fitted without tools. Fears offers an optional five-link steel bracelet for the 38, and T3 mentions a bracelet option for its reviewed 38 Salmon.
Before buying a replacement, check the exact reference and confirm the lug width, spring-bar type and strap-end shape against the seller’s listing. The cited specifications do not establish compatibility for every Brunswick model or validate any particular third-party strap.

The Brown 175th-anniversary Brunswick is a historical limited edition, not evidence of current stock: Fears says it was made in 2021 in a run of five, with a 38mm steel case, 42mm lug-to-lug, 20mm lug width and manual ETA 7001. It originally came with buffalo nubuck Bund, nylon NATO and goat-leather straps.
How do the movements differ?
Manual-winding 38 models
The Polar White uses a manual ETA 7001. T3’s reviewed 38 Salmon instead used a manual La Joux-Perret D100, with approximately 50 hours of reserve reported for that sample. Do not transfer the Salmon’s movement or reserve figure to the Polar White.

Automatic 40 and 39 models
The 40 Blue has an automatic ETA 2824-2 and a stated 40-hour power reserve on its Fears page. The 39 Perpetual Calendar is a distinct complication: Fratello reports a Sellita SW300 automatic base with a Dubois Dépraz 55115 module and 47-hour reserve. The 39’s movement description here is Fratello’s reporting; it should not be treated as an official specification from the Fears pages cited for the 38 and 40.

T3 stated a £3,350 retail price for the Brunswick 38 Salmon it reviewed in an article published 15 February 2026. Fratello reported £26,950 for the Brunswick 39 Perpetual Calendar in 2026 and identified Fears’ Bristol boutique, the Fears website and select stockists as purchase channels at publication. These are dated reports for different models, not current quotes or a like-for-like price comparison.

Which Brunswick should you consider?
- Choose the 38 Polar White as a candidate if its 38mm case, 42mm lug-to-lug, manual ETA 7001 and white dial suit your preferences; its 20mm quick-release strap system also offers straightforward strap changes.
- Consider the 40 Fears Blue if you want a larger 40mm case, automatic winding and the blue dial. Its 46.5mm lug-to-lug length is the longest among the cited 38, 40 and 39 references.
- Look at the 38 Salmon as its own configuration if you are comparing the manual La Joux-Perret movement and salmon dial covered by T3. Treat its review and reported price as specific to that model and article date.
- Consider the 39 Perpetual Calendar for the complication rather than as a simple size variant: it has a modular automatic perpetual calendar and a reported price far above the cited 38 Salmon. Confirm its current price and purchase route directly.
