Oura lists six finishes. A metallic finish can make the ring feel more like an accessory, but a polished look is not guaranteed to stay untouched: Oura warns that its rings can scratch and can scratch softer jewelry or nearby objects.
An independent Woman & Home reviewer who wore Ring 5 for three months described its metallic finish as more jewelry-like than other smart rings she had tried, and later noticed minor scratches. That is the reviewer’s personal experience, not a claim that every wearer will have the same result.
What the ring tracks—and what that does not mean
Oura describes Ring 5 as tracking wellness signals and providing app insights related to sleep, heart rate, temperature, stress, activity, and other measures. The evidence in the research dossier supports describing these as tracking features, not as proof that the ring can diagnose or treat a medical condition.
Oura also reports performance improvements over Ring 4: 12% more accurate overnight HRV for the average member, a 24% improvement in workout heart-rate signal quality, and a 19% increase in accuracy for top activities including running, cycling, and walking. These are manufacturer-reported comparisons, not independent validation established by the research dossier.

The practical trade-offs: fit, scratches, and workouts
Smart-ring sizing is model-specific, and Oura says Ring 5 sizing differs slightly. Its size range is 6 through 13, narrower than Ring 4’s 4 through 15. Check the range before ordering, and do not assume another ring’s size will transfer.
Oura recommends wearing the correct Ring 5 sizing kit for at least 24 hours, including overnight, before choosing a size. Its finish guidance also recommends removing the ring for friction-heavy activities such as weightlifting and avoiding adjacent rings. Those precautions matter if you want to limit scratches or find a ring uncomfortable while gripping equipment.
