The Albishorn x Massena LAB Maxigraph is a monopusher chronograph with a patented retrograde ten-minute regatta countdown. Its defining twist: when the countdown reaches zero, the countdown hand stops while the chronograph seconds keep running. The watch pairs that mechanism with a 1930s-inspired design conceit, rather than a claim to be a historical timepiece.
What is the Maxigraph?
Launched in 2024, the Maxigraph is the debut collaboration between independent Swiss watchmaker Albishorn and Massena LAB. Its backstory imagines a modern regatta chronograph that might have been commissioned in the 1930s, set against the first Le Bol d’Or on Lake Geneva in 1939. That is a deliberate counterfactual design concept, not evidence of a period watch or a documented commission.

The watch’s central feature is a monopusher chronograph paired with a retrograde ten-minute regatta timer. Massena LAB describes it as an automatic, Swiss-made proprietary caliber with a patented ten-minute retrograde timer. The patent claim is the manufacturer’s; it should not be read as independent verification.
How the regatta countdown works
In a regatta, the countdown helps a crew track the interval before a race start. Albishorn says the Maxigraph’s countdown hand sweeps through ten minutes and then stops, rather than restarting the countdown. The chronograph seconds continue running after the countdown expires, so the two indications serve different purposes.

Albishorn says the countdown indication is reset by stopping and resetting the chronograph. That links the regatta timer to the chronograph’s control sequence. The available official description does not establish additional operating steps beyond that reset behavior.
Case, dial and controls
The watch has a silvered sector dial, luminous hands and dial scales, and a bidirectional steel bezel. A red aluminum pusher sits at 9 o’clock, while the crown is positioned at 10 o’clock. An aperture on the dial provides a running indicator. The red pusher adds a strong color accent to an otherwise restrained, vintage-inspired layout.

Albishorn lists the case at 39 mm in diameter; the bezel measures 41.7 mm across. The lug-to-lug length is 47.7 mm, thickness is 13 mm including the sapphire crystal, and the lug width is 20 mm. Water resistance is rated to 100 m.
Movement and specifications
Albishorn identifies the automatic proprietary movement as caliber ALB01 A. The listed specifications include a typical 64-hour power reserve, a frequency of 4 Hz, 25 jewels, a central 60-second counter and a stop-seconds device. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results.

Straps, price and availability
The Maxigraph is supplied with red rubber and white calfskin straps. Its listed 20 mm lug width is a useful starting point when searching for a 20 mm watch strap, but lug width alone does not confirm that every third-party strap will attach or fit correctly. Check the attachment and buckle dimensions before buying.
Massena LAB’s official product page lists the Maxigraph at $5,495 and currently marks it sold out. That listed price does not indicate current retail stock. The official pages reviewed do not publish a numeric production total.

What one auction result does—and doesn’t—tell you
Christie’s recorded a realized price of HKD 24,130 for one Maxigraph lot whose sale closed on 3 December 2025. That is a single dated transaction, not an average, current valuation or guarantee of what another example will sell for. Availability and condition can vary, and the result alone cannot establish a present market price.

The Maxigraph’s most unusual feature is not simply that it counts down to a race start: it is the separation between a countdown that stops at ten minutes and chronograph seconds that continue. The single-pusher control, 1930s-inspired visual language and imagined Le Bol d’Or origin give the mechanism a specific story, while the published dimensions and 100 m water-resistance rating make the practical size and specification easier to assess. No comparative ranking against other regatta or monopusher chronographs is established by these specifications alone.
