What is the Beaufort Pulsatimer Jet Black DLC?
Beaufort is a New Zealand watch brand founded in 2019, according to founder and designer Robert Kwok’s account. The Pulsatimer marked a later shift toward a more industrial design language, with inspiration from Brutalist architecture and neo-vintage medical watches. How is the case and dial designed?
The 39 mm case combines brushed, sandblasted and selectively polished surfaces beneath a black DLC coating. On the dial, interconnected applied indices sit among the chronograph displays and a pulsometer scale around the perimeter. Vintage-style piston pushers reinforce the old-school chronograph character, while the layered finishes and monolithic-looking dial forms give the watch its industrial, Brutalist feel.
The case is stainless steel with a sealed caseback and a double-domed box sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, according to Monochrome’s Jet Black DLC specifications. Beaufort’s current product page for the standard Black—not Jet Black DLC—also identifies a 316L steel case and sapphire crystal, which supports the broader family specification but is not a substitute for a variant-specific listing. Beaufort’s current standard Black listing independently gives the family a 39 mm case, 47 mm lug-to-lug, 50 m water resistance, Sellita SW510M BH b, manual winding and a stated 63-hour reserve. It also specifies a 20 mm strap width and black Italian leather strap. These are standard Black listing details, not all confirmed separately for Jet Black DLC. (Beaufort Pulsatimer Black)
How does the Pulsatimer’s pulsometer work?
A pulsometer converts a timed count of heartbeats into a beats-per-minute reading. Start the chronograph and count 30 beats; when the count ends, read the central chronograph seconds hand against the dial’s calibrated pulsometer markings. The scale is a historical medical-watch feature and only offers an estimate—it is not a replacement for a modern health monitor.

How does it wear, and what is the New Zealand connection?
At 39 mm across and 47 mm lug-to-lug, the listed dimensions make the Pulsatimer relatively compact for a mechanical chronograph, though the 13.8 mm thickness including crystal gives it some height. The 20 mm strap width on the standard Black model points to a common strap category for alternatives, but confirm the Jet Black DLC’s attachment and buckle compatibility before ordering a replacement.

What did the Pulsatimer Jet Black DLC cost, and is it available?
At launch in 2024, Monochrome listed the Jet Black DLC at EUR 1,214.95 including tax, with preorders open and shipping expected to begin in September 2024. That is historical launch pricing, not a current offer. (Monochrome, July 23, 2024)
Beaufort’s current standard Pulsatimer Black page displays NZD 2,160 and marks that model sold out; it is a different colorway and does not verify the Jet Black DLC’s present price. The official Pulsatimer collection result has shown Jet Black DLC at NZD 2,160 and sold out as indexed, but an indexed result is not a live confirmation.
