The Certina DS-7 Chrono Auto is a padel-inspired automatic chronograph offered in two documented blue-dial configurations: 316L stainless steel (reference C043.427.11.041.00) and titanium with a PVD coating (C043.427.44.041.00). Both are 42 mm wide and 14.87 mm high, use the Valjoux A05.231 automatic movement, and are rated by Certina to 10 bar (100 m). The steel version is listed at 186 g; a comparable weight for the titanium/PVD version is not stated in the product material reviewed here.
What is the Certina DS-7 Chrono Auto?
It is an automatic chronograph in Certina’s DS-7 family, styled by the brand as a sporty, padel-inspired watch. The Swatch Group’s 2024 annual report names the DS-7 Chrono Auto among additions to that family, establishing recent-model context but not an exact announcement date or first retail-availability date. Certina describes it as a “padel-inspired timepiece” with a “bold and sporty character.” Swatch Group Annual Report 2024; Certina product description.

What the movement and construction details mean
Certina specifies the Valjoux A05.231 as an automatic movement with a 30-minute chronograph and a silicon component. The brand says the watch uses an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring. These are manufacturer descriptions; the available specifications do not establish independent accuracy or magnetic-resistance test results.
Certina also identifies the crystal as anti-reflective sapphire and describes its DS (Double Security) system. The brand’s DS Concept description lists a sapphire crystal, an O-ring gasket on the stem, two O-ring gaskets in the crown, a case-back gasket, and a reinforced case back. This explains the construction features Certina associates with the system, rather than providing an independent assessment of performance.

Steel or titanium/PVD: how the two versions differ
The documented differences are material, weight information, and displayed regional price. Both references have the same listed dimensions, blue dial, movement, crystal treatment, water-resistance rating, and warranty. The steel listing specifies a net weight of 186 g; the retrieved material does not state a weight for the titanium/PVD version, so a direct weight comparison cannot be made from these specifications.
The names alone do not establish how either version will feel on a particular wrist or how its surface will wear. Consider the case and bracelet material and the visual treatment as configuration choices, rather than assuming a comfort or scratch-resistance advantage not demonstrated by these product details.

Is the 10-bar rating suitable for swimming?
Certina specifies water resistance of 10 bar (100 m) for both configurations. That is the stated rating; it does not make the DS-7 Chrono Auto a dive watch or establish scuba-diving certification. Certina’s product page says, as general guidance, that it does not recommend wearing watches rated below 10 bar (100 m) when swimming or diving. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance for this model and have water resistance maintained according to the brand’s instructions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should consider the DS-7 Chrono Auto?
The two references suit someone seeking a sporty automatic chronograph who prefers a blue dial and wants to choose between a steel bracelet configuration and a titanium/PVD one. Before buying, verify the complete reference: C043.427.11.041.00 identifies the steel version, while C043.427.44.041.00 identifies the titanium/PVD configuration. The published specifications establish their dimensions and functions, but do not substitute for trying on a 42 mm-wide, 14.87 mm-high watch if fit is a deciding factor.
