The Chopard L.U.C Qualité Fleurier reference 168631-3001 pairs a restrained, time-only design with two distinct credentials: COSC chronometer certification and the Fleurier Quality Foundation certificate. Its 39 mm Lucent Steel case surrounds a silver sector dial, while Chopard’s automatic L.U.C 96.09-L movement provides approximately 65 hours of power reserve. Announced in April 2024, it remains listed on Chopard’s product site; it is not a 2026 debut.
A quietly detailed, time-only design
The design is deliberately restrained, but the dial has more going on than a plain silver surface. Chopard describes a brass dial with a sunburst satin-brushed center and a circular satin-finished chapter ring, arranged in a sector-style layout. Hours and minutes sit alongside small seconds at six o’clock; the manufacturer’s specifications do not list a date.

The watch measures 39 mm across and 8.92 mm thick. A sapphire crystal protects the front, and a transparent sapphire caseback reveals the movement. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres, a modest splash-resistance rating rather than a basis for recommending swimming or diving. Chopard supplies the watch on a brown calfskin strap with a stainless steel pin buckle; its cited product page does not state the strap width.
Lucent Steel, with a carefully bounded claim
Chopard markets the stainless-steel case as Lucent Steel and says the alloy has a recycling rate of at least 80%. That is the brand’s stated material claim, not an independent lifecycle assessment or a measure of the watch’s overall environmental impact. The official product description is available on Chopard’s international product page.

The L.U.C 96.09-L movement
Inside is Chopard’s self-winding L.U.C 96.09-L. The movement uses Twin technology: two coaxial barrels that deliver an approximately 65-hour power reserve. Chopard specifies a frequency of 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, a thickness of 3.30 mm, 172 components and 29 jewels.
The movement’s finishing includes Côtes de Genève on the bridges and a circular-grained mainplate. Those details can be viewed through the sapphire caseback. The combination of a slim movement and an 8.92 mm case helps keep the overall profile neat, though the figures alone do not establish how the watch wears on an individual wrist.

What the two certifications mean
Chopard lists both COSC chronometer certification and the Fleurier Quality Foundation certificate for this reference. They are separate certification references, not interchangeable labels. COSC certification concerns the movement as a chronometer; the Fleurier certificate is an additional qualification associated with the finished watch.
In its April 2024 coverage, Hodinkee describes Qualité Fleurier as additional testing that addresses quality, shock resistance, precision, temperature and moisture conditions, magnetic-field exposure, and accuracy after casing. It reports a 0/+5 seconds-per-day requirement for an assembled watch. That is secondary editorial reporting rather than a current quotation from the Foundation’s rulebook, so the figure should not be treated here as a freshly verified statement of current criteria. Monochrome’s April 2024 launch coverage likewise characterizes the certification as applying to the assembled watch and encompassing matters such as finishing, accuracy, assembly, durability and reliability.

Rank #3
- Suitable for everyday wear and outdoor activities
Chopard’s product description puts the distinction succinctly: “The watch bears the hallmark of the Fleurier Quality Foundation and is chronometer-certified by the COSC.” That is the brand’s wording, not a statement based on personal testing of this particular watch.
