Its stainless-steel case measures 44 mm across and 12.2 mm thick, and its automatic GP01800 movement offers a variable-inertia balance. Girard-Perregaux’s US product page currently displays a price of USD 27,000; that page price does not confirm stock or guarantee a permanent price.
What is the Free Bridge Meteorite?
Introduced in 2024, the Free Bridge Meteorite is a contemporary, openworked mechanical watch in Girard-Perregaux’s Bridges collection. The meteorite does not cover the entire dial: two plates are integrated into the layered architecture, where their natural pattern contrasts with the black-and-grey bridges and suspended indexes. The result keeps the movement and dial structure visually prominent while giving the watch a distinct material signature. Monochrome Watches’ launch coverage describes luminous indexes and dauphine hands, alongside a black calfskin strap with a fabric effect and a steel triple-folding clasp.

Why use Gibeon meteorite?
Girard-Perregaux says the two dial plates come from Gibeon meteorite, discovered in Namibia. The manufacturer describes the material as an iron-nickel alloy with small amounts of cobalt and phosphorus. Its naturally formed flow lines are known as the Widmanstätten pattern. As the brand puts it, “The meteorite features naturally occurring flow lines termed the Widmanstätten pattern.” Each plate’s pattern is a feature of the material rather than a conventional printed dial decoration. Girard-Perregaux’s product description identifies the material and its pattern.
Case and display
The case is stainless steel, 44 mm in diameter and 12.2 mm thick. Girard-Perregaux specifies sapphire crystal and water resistance to 30 m. That rating is a modest everyday-use specification, not a basis for treating the watch as a swimming or diving watch. The openworked dial combines black and grey elements with luminous hour markers and hands, while the meteorite inlays provide the principal natural-material contrast.
#1 Best Overall
- Girard Perregaux Caliber GP08400, beats at 21,600 (3 Hz) vph, composed out of 208 parts, contains 29 Jewels & has an approximate power reserve of 48 hours
- The balance wheel is secured in place by a black PVD coated bridge at 6 o'clock. The generous proportions of the balance wheel (10.15mm in diameter) makes it less subject to disturbances and thus more accurate.
- The micro-rotor is located to the top left of the movement, while the main-spring barrel is located to the right side for a symmetrical design.
What movement is inside?
The watch uses Girard-Perregaux caliber GP01800, a self-winding mechanical movement. The manufacturer lists a diameter of 36.20 mm, 185 parts, 23 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Monochrome reports a movement height of 5.94 mm, a power reserve of up to 54 hours, and an hours-and-minutes display.
Variable-inertia balance and silicon components
The GP01800 uses a variable-inertia balance: its hairspring length stays fixed, while inertia weights on the balance-wheel spokes are adjusted to regulate the rate. Girard-Perregaux says this arrangement provides greater stability and shock resistance; those are the manufacturer’s stated benefits, not independent test results. The brand also says silicon is used in the escapement and parts of the balance wheel, citing reduced susceptibility to corrosion, temperature changes and magnetic fields, as well as lower friction. The official movement description explains these design choices.
Price and availability
On its US product page, Girard-Perregaux displays USD 27,000 for reference 82000-11-3259-5CX. Watches of Switzerland lists the same US price for the reference. Monochrome’s launch-era article, dated 28 February 2024, gives prices of EUR 27,100 and CHF 24,600. These are separate currency and market references, not interchangeable conversions or a single worldwide price. Prices and product-page options can change, and the cited pages do not establish current stock or delivery timing.
Girard-Perregaux’s page offers contact and reservation options, while the retailer page showed a notify-me option. Neither page state confirms availability. See the manufacturer’s product page or Watches of Switzerland listing for their current information.
