The Hublot MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire turns its case, dial opening and movement into one visual composition. The 42 mm watch pairs microblasted titanium with a polished, laser-textured sapphire bezel and a hand-wound skeleton movement rated by Hublot for a 240-hour power reserve. It is a limited edition of 99 pieces, with regional suggested prices published by Hublot.
What is the Hublot MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash?
Reference 917.NJ.6909.RX is a collaboration between Hublot and American artist Daniel Arsham. Hublot calls it Arsham’s first wristwatch design for the brand. The model was unveiled in Singapore on 9 October 2025, according to the launch announcement distributed by PR Newswire.
Rather than treating the movement as something to hide behind a conventional dial, the MP-17 makes its mechanics part of the face. Its asymmetrical, fluid case frames a splash-shaped dial opening, while a long-duration power-reserve display adds another graphic element. The result reads as a sculptural object as much as a conventional time display; that is a description of its visual approach, not a technical category.
A 42 mm titanium case with a sapphire splash
Hublot specifies a 42 mm case in shiny microblasted titanium. The bezel is polished sapphire crystal with laser texturing, and the watch’s sapphire crystal has anti-reflective treatment. On the dial, rhodium-plated, shiny microblasted surfaces sit alongside green Arsham Superluminova.

The black rubber strap is decorated with the Arsham monogram and fastens with a titanium deployant buckle clasp. Hublot publishes a water-resistance rating of 50 m / 5 ATM. That is the manufacturer’s rating; it does not, by itself, establish suitability for any particular water activity.
What powers the MP-17?
The watch uses Hublot’s HUB1205 manufacture manual-winding skeleton power-reserve movement. Hublot states a 240-hour power reserve, equivalent to 10 days. Its Meca-10 explanation says two mainspring barrels supply the energy and a digital display shows remaining autonomy in days.
According to Hublot, a rack system—called “crémaillère” in its explanation—drives the reserve display. Superimposed disks rotate in opposite directions, with a spiral spring forming part of the mechanism. This describes the manufacturer’s account of the system, not an independent teardown.
How the Arsham collaboration shapes the design
Hublot presents the MP-17’s asymmetrical, liquid-like case and splash-shaped opening as an evolution of the droplet inspiration associated with the MP-16. The brand connects the design to Arsham’s idea of “fictional archaeology”: reimagining contemporary objects as though they were artifacts from another time. That is the brand’s framing of the collaboration, rather than a historical claim about the watch.

Arsham describes the project as an exploration of time’s fluidity, pointing to the water-droplet-inspired case and transparent structure. He also characterizes his broader work as “collapsing time,” leaving an object’s place between past and future uncertain. These statements explain the artistic intent; the concrete specifications remain the case dimensions, materials, movement, reserve and rating Hublot publishes.
