A colorful rotor and symbolic details
The dial-side view is dominated by rotor elements in red, blue, and yellow, with a bright green hour-disc accent. The watch-industry report also notes that the numerals on the side-mounted rotating cylinders are handwritten and that an angel speaking with the moon is engraved on the crown.

Castelbajac described his relationship with time this way: “Ma relation avec le temps est particulière. Je suis souvent « avant ou après l’heure » : avant quand il s’agit de vision, après quand il s’agit de satisfaction. Mais quand il s’agit d’aimer, je suis toujours à l’heure.” A translation for readers is: “My relationship with time is particular. I am often ‘before or after the hour’: before when it comes to vision, after when it comes to satisfaction. But when it comes to loving, I am always on time.” This English wording is a translation, not a separately verified official English quotation.
How the side-reading display works
Instead of hands over a conventional round dial, the M.A.D.1 displays hours and minutes on rotating cylinders along the side of the case. To read the time, look toward the side of the case rather than straight across the crystal. This leaves the front rotor as the visual centerpiece, but the reading angle is less conventional than a standard dial.

It also reported that half the pieces were offered to MB&F Tribe members and Friends on a first-come basis, with the remainder allocated through a public raffle, and that delivery was planned from April through September 2024.
