The Garmin Instinct 3 was the most complete fitness product announced at CES 2025, particularly for outdoor athletes who value rugged construction, multi-band GPS and long battery life. But the show’s most interesting wearable ideas extended well beyond watches: Circular Ring 2 targeted Oura, Suunto Aqua brought offline audio and swim analysis to the pool, and Amazfit Active 2 aimed to make a broad smartwatch feature set more affordable.

This is a retrospective of products announced or shown at CES 2025, not a long-term test ranking. Some products later reached retail, while others remained concepts or acquired important safety and availability qualifications.

CES 2025’s fitness story was bigger than smartwatches. The show brought rugged outdoor watches, a camera-sized smart ring, swimming headphones, AI strength equipment, luxury wearables, a smart-health concept and a high-performance e-bike into the same conversation.

What this CES 2025 list actually means

This is a curated selection of products that were announced, demonstrated or discussed at CES 2025—not a ranking based on months of independent testing. The original roundup was published on January 9, 2025, so launch prices, shipping expectations and availability should be read as dated CES information unless a later product status is specifically identified below.

#1 Best Overall

  • No APP & Phone Required Fitness Tracker Watch: This Fitness Tracker watch doesn't require any App or smartphone connections! It's as simple to use as a regular watch but smarter. Perfect for anyone looking for an easy fitness tracker without the hassle of smartphone setups.
  • Heart Rate and Sleep Monitoring: The Fitness Tracker monitors your heart rate automatically all day, and you can select manual mode through the App. The fitness Watch also monitors your sleep at night, providing a detailed analysis of your sleep quality (deep sleep, light sleep, awake time). It is a health advisor for women men in daily life.
  • Multi Sport Modes with Activity Tracking: The fitness tracker features 9 sport modes like running, walking and more. Additionally, the activity tracker records daily steps, calories burned, walking distance and active time throughout the day. You can also set a daily steps goals through the App to track your progress.

  • Long Battery Life and IP68 Waterproof: This smart watch only requires 2 hours of charging and can be used for 5-7 days continuously, IP68 waterproof rating can withstand daily sweat, washing hands and rainy day, allowing you to fully enjoy your workouts.

Battery life, range, workout counts, brightness, resistance and AI capabilities are manufacturer claims unless noted otherwise. CES is useful for identifying the direction of fitness technology, but a promising demonstration is not the same thing as a proven product.

Product Best suited to What made it notable Important qualification
Garmin Instinct 3 Outdoor athletes and adventurers AMOLED or solar power, multi-band GPS, rugged construction and a built-in flashlight Battery figures and pricing are Garmin claims; this was a launch announcement, not an independent review
Circular Ring 2 People comparing smart rings with Oura Camera-based sizing and an ECG/atrial-fibrillation feature highlighted at CES Do not treat it as a medical device or assume it matches Oura’s accuracy or ecosystem
Suunto Aqua Swimmers and multisport athletes Open-ear bone-conduction audio, offline storage and swim-analysis features Ten hours is a maximum claim; offline music can reduce playback time
Amazfit Active 2 Budget-conscious everyday smartwatch buyers AMOLED display, maps, more than 160 workout modes and a low launch price NFC, pricing and some software features vary by region and can change
Ultrahuman Rare Luxury-tech buyers Precious-metal finishes built around Ultrahuman’s Ring Air platform Very expensive and distributed through selected retail locations
Amp Connected home strength training AI-guided cable resistance, adaptive workouts and a camera-equipped system Certain MP2 machines were recalled in December 2025 for an unexpected-arm movement hazard
Withings Omnia Readers interested in future health interfaces A concept for combining data from multiple Withings devices in a smart mirror It was not presented as a confirmed retail product
Segway Xyber Fitness-adjacent electric mobility Dual batteries, aggressive acceleration and long claimed range The initial model was not certified for roads or bike paths

1. Garmin Instinct 3: the most complete outdoor-fitness announcement

For most readers who want one product that combines training features, navigation, durability and long battery life, the Garmin Instinct 3 was the strongest all-around announcement at CES 2025. It is not a lightweight lifestyle smartwatch in the Apple Watch mold. Its appeal is the opposite: a purpose-built outdoor watch that is comfortable being scratched, wet, cold and far from a charger.

What Garmin announced

The Instinct 3 range added a choice between AMOLED and solar-powered display options, in 45mm and 50mm case sizes. Every model uses a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a metal-reinforced bezel, a scratch-resistant display, MIL-STD 810-rated thermal and shock resistance, and a 100-meter water rating. Garmin also included a built-in flashlight across the range—an unusually practical feature for camping, early-morning runs and finding equipment in a dark bag.

Navigation and training are the watch’s main differentiators. Garmin lists multi-band GPS with SatIQ, which is intended to balance positioning accuracy and battery consumption, along with Garmin Pay, smart notifications and a broad collection of sports profiles. Health and training features listed by Garmin include sleep and wellness monitoring, HRV Status, Pulse Ox where available, Garmin Coach, VO2 max, recovery time, incident detection and LiveTrack.

Battery life: impressive, but read the fine print

Garmin’s headline figures are unusually ambitious. The company says the AMOLED models can reach up to 24 days in smartwatch mode. Its solar models can have unlimited smartwatch-mode battery life under Garmin’s stated solar-use assumptions. Garmin separately says the 50mm Instinct 3 Solar can deliver more than five times the GPS-mode battery life of the Instinct 2 Solar when solar charging is available.

Those figures are not a promise that the watch will never need a charger. GPS use, screen brightness, notifications, sensors, music, temperature and the amount of usable sunlight all affect endurance. “Unlimited” is a manufacturer-mode claim under specified conditions, not an independent test result. The practical advantage of the solar model is that it can substantially reduce charging frequency for people who spend regular time outdoors.

Price and model choice

  • Instinct 3 AMOLED: Garmin announced a starting suggested retail price of $449.99.
  • Instinct 3 Solar: Garmin announced a starting suggested retail price of $399.99.
  • Instinct E: The CES roundup listed a starting price of $299 / £259 / AU$549. This is a less expensive, separate model—not simply another name for the Instinct 3 Series.

Garmin said orders through Garmin.com would begin January 10, 2025. Prices and stock can change considerably after launch, so those figures should not be treated as current retail prices without checking the relevant regional store.

Who should choose it: hikers, trail runners, campers, climbers and anyone who values GPS, durability and battery life over a polished app ecosystem or a thin case.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Who should not: shoppers primarily seeking a small, fashion-oriented smartwatch, extensive third-party apps or the simplest possible health experience. The Instinct 3’s strengths are specialization and resilience.

2. Circular Ring 2: the CES 2025 Oura alternative

The Circular Ring 2 was the roundup’s most direct Oura comparison. Its first notable difference is the sizing process: Circular presented a system that uses a smartphone camera and app rather than relying on a conventional plastic sizing kit. That could make ordering faster and less wasteful, although sizing accuracy still depends on the app, the camera and the user following the process correctly.

The second headline feature was ECG-based heart monitoring and atrial-fibrillation detection. CES coverage described the feature as FDA-approved. That wording needs care: it should not be expanded into a claim that the ring diagnoses atrial fibrillation, that it replaces a clinician, or that every health metric has clinical-grade accuracy. Regulatory clearance, where applicable, applies to a specific feature and intended use—not to the entire ring or all of its wellness insights. Anyone considering it for a heart concern should verify the current indication and speak with a medical professional.

At CES, Circular presented the Ring 2 as a crowdfunded product with a reference price of approximately £300 / $380 / AU$600 and an expectation of March shipping. Subsequent to that show-floor coverage, Circular’s official store listed the Circular Ring 2 as a physical product. That later status should not be confused with what was guaranteed at CES.

Calling it an Oura alternative describes its market position, not proof that it matches Oura’s sensors, sleep algorithms, subscription model, app maturity or long-term reliability. Smart rings are particularly difficult to judge from a specification sheet: comfort, sizing, charging, data interpretation and the quality of the accompanying app matter as much as the sensor list.

Check before buying: the current price, shipping region, return policy, subscription or feature-access terms, and the exact regulatory wording for any ECG or atrial-fibrillation function.

3. Suunto Aqua: swimming headphones that do more than play audio

The Suunto Aqua swimming headphones are a more focused product than the Garmin or Amazfit watches. They are open-ear bone-conduction headphones designed for swimming and outdoor training, where ordinary earbuds are inconvenient or unusable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Suunto lists 32GB of onboard storage, allowing music to be played without a phone, plus swim-analysis features involving stroke posture, head-pitch angle, breathing frequency and glide time. That makes the Aqua interesting not merely as waterproof audio but as training hardware aimed at helping a swimmer understand technique.

The current US product information reviewed for this article lists a $179 price, although headphone prices and stock are volatile and should be rechecked at publication. Suunto lists a 35-gram weight and up to 10 hours of headphone playback, with up to 20 additional hours available from the included power bank. The headphones are tested to 5 meters for up to 2 hours under the stated IP68 specification.

There is an important difference between the headline and a particular workout. Suunto’s user guide says offline music use can reduce playback time to approximately six hours in the stated operating context. Therefore, “10 hours” is best understood as a manufacturer maximum rather than a universal real-world result. Playlist format, volume, temperature, tracking functions and use of swim analysis can all affect endurance.

Suunto describes the Aqua as recreational headphones, not medical or safety equipment. Bone conduction and open-ear designs can make awareness easier than sealed earbuds, but swimmers should not treat them as a substitute for supervision, a lifeguard or local water-safety practices.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best for: swimmers who want phone-free audio and are willing to pay for swimming-specific hardware.

Trade-off: the open-ear bone-conduction design prioritizes situational awareness and water compatibility over the sealed, bass-heavy sound many listeners expect from conventional headphones.

4. Amazfit Active 2: the value-oriented smartwatch

The Amazfit Active 2 occupied a different part of the market from the Instinct 3. Amazfit positioned it as an affordable lifestyle and fitness smartwatch rather than a rugged expedition watch. It is therefore a credible value alternative for someone who wants a bright display, everyday health tracking and a large workout catalogue, but it should not be treated as a like-for-like Garmin replacement.

Amazfit announced the Active 2 on January 6, 2025, and debuted it at CES with a stainless-steel body, a 1.32-inch AMOLED display and a claimed peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. The company highlighted more than 160 workout modes, offline maps and up to 10 days of battery life. Those features give it a strong specification-sheet appeal, particularly for people who want more fitness capability than a basic tracker without moving into premium outdoor-watch pricing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The launch positioning was sub-$100 for the standard version. A more expensive premium version added sapphire glass and NFC for contactless payments in Europe. That regional detail matters: NFC availability and payment support are not universal, and smartwatch features can differ by country, phone, software version and supported bank.

Amazfit also highlighted Zepp Flow voice commands and AI-generated health insights. These may be convenient for navigating a watch or summarizing data, but AI-generated guidance should be treated as wellness software—not a diagnosis or a substitute for professional medical advice. Current prices, stock and software features should be checked in the buyer’s region because the CES launch information is no longer a reliable snapshot of every market.

5. Ultrahuman Rare: a luxury smart ring, not a mass-market Oura substitute

The Ultrahuman Rare smart ring took the smart-ring category in a very different direction. Rather than competing primarily on value or minimalism, it used 18K gold, rose gold and platinum finishes to turn a health wearable into luxury jewelry. Underneath, it is built on the technology platform of Ultrahuman’s Ring Air.

The CES roundup described health, sleep and exercise monitoring, heart-rate data and stress features, with launch-period prices beginning at approximately £1,499. Ultrahuman’s current product information describes six-axis motion sensing, PPG and skin-temperature sensors, up to six days of battery life and water resistance up to 100 meters. It also describes lifetime UltrahumanX access subject to the company’s terms.

That combination makes Rare a niche product. The premium is paying for materials, finish and exclusivity as much as for the underlying tracking platform. Ultrahuman describes availability through selected retail locations and future-location plans, so distribution is more limited than for a typical mass-market ring sold through a large online marketplace.

Best for: someone who genuinely wants a precious-metal ring with wearable health features.

Not the sensible default: if your priority is sleep data, exercise tracking or value per dollar, the material upgrade may be difficult to justify. It also should not be presented as the default Oura alternative simply because it is another premium ring.

6. Amp: an ambitious connected cable machine with a serious safety update

Amp was one of CES 2025’s more interesting home-fitness ideas: an AI-powered strength machine using adjustable cable resistance, a camera and companion software to provide adaptive workouts, challenges and leaderboards. The concept invited comparisons with a “Peloton for cable machines”—a connected strength platform intended to make progressive resistance training more guided and social.

Later information from Amp’s help center described up to 100 pounds of dynamic resistance, AI-personalized workouts and more than 400 exercises. It listed a $1,795 package including handles, a rope, a T-bar, ankle straps, delivery, installation and a 90-day trial. Those details make the machine substantially more concrete than it appeared in the initial CES coverage.

Safety notice: Amp published a voluntary recall on December 18, 2025, covering certain MP2 smart fitness machines sold online from January through August 2025. The notice said an arm could swing unexpectedly if it did not lock properly, creating a laceration or serious-injury hazard. Owners of an affected machine should stop using it and contact Amp for inspection and repair.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Because of that recall, Amp cannot be treated as an unqualified purchase recommendation. Before buying, a reader would need confirmation from the manufacturer about the exact unit’s recall status and any required repair. Before using an owned machine, the recall notice—not a retailer listing or a CES demonstration—should determine what to do.

Editorial verdict: important as a sign of where connected home strength training was heading, but safety verification comes before convenience, AI coaching or leaderboard features.

7. Withings Omnia: the smart-health mirror that remained a concept

Withings Omnia was not a product recommendation. It was a vision of an AI-powered smart mirror that could bring together information from Withings devices and present a broader picture of health, including heart-health data, activity, nutrition, body composition and sleep.

Its always on display clock makes the time conveniently visible. Experience convenience like never before with the intuitive full touch controls and the side button, switch between apps, and customize settings with seamless precision.
  • 【Comprehensive 24/7 Health Monitoring】The fitness watches for women and men packs 24/7 heart rate, 24/7 blood pressure and blood oxygen monitors. You could check those real-time health metrics anytime, anywhere on your wrist and view the data record in the App. The heart rate monitor watch also tracks different sleep stages for light and deep sleep, and the time when you wake up, helps you to get a better understanding of your sleep quality.
  • 【120+ exercise modes & All-Day Activity Tracking】There are more than 120 exercise modes available in the activity trackers and smartwatches, covering almost all daily sports activities you can imagine, gives you new ways to train and advanced metrics for more information about your workout performance. The all-day activity tracking feature monitors your steps, distance, and calories burned all the day, so you can see how much progress you've made towards your fitness goals.
  • 【Messages & Incoming Calls Notification】With this smart watch fitness trackers for iPhone and android phones, you can receive notifications for incoming calls and read messages directly from your wrist without taking out your phone. Never miss a beat, stay in touch with loved ones, and stay informed of important updates wherever you are.
  • 【Essential Assistant for Daily Life】The fitness watches for women and men provide you with more features including drinking water and sedentary reminder, women's menstrual period reminder, breath training, real-time weather display, remote camera shooting, music control, timer, stopwatch, finding phone, alarm clock, making it a considerate life assistant. With the GPS connectivity, you could get a map of your workout route in the app for outdoor activity by connecting to your phone GPS.

The idea is compelling because health data is often fragmented across watches, scales, blood-pressure monitors, sleep trackers and separate apps. A single interface could make trends easier to see. The risk is that a polished summary can appear more authoritative than the underlying measurements deserve. Without a confirmed retail product, release date, price or clinical validation, Omnia should be understood as a concept rather than a device readers can buy or rely on for medical decisions.

8. Segway Xyber: fitness-adjacent mobility with unusually aggressive specifications

The Segway Xyber broadened the definition of fitness technology. It was presented as a rugged e-bike and mobility product rather than a wearable, but its pedal-assistance modes, throttle options and off-road design put it close to the intersection of transportation and exercise.

The launch-period specifications included dual-crown suspension, a dual-battery configuration, up to 112 miles of claimed range, 12 pedal-assistance levels, throttle-only modes, 0-to-20-mph acceleration in 2.7 seconds and hydraulic disc brakes. These numbers describe a powerful machine, but they are not equivalent to an independently measured range test or a universal statement about road performance.

The legal qualification is especially important. The initial model was not certified for roads or bike paths, while a road-legal version was expected later. E-bike classifications, throttle rules, speed limits, helmet requirements and access to trails vary by country, state, province and municipality. A prospective buyer must verify the exact model and local rules rather than assuming that a later road-legal version has the same specifications or availability.

Best for: readers interested in high-performance electric mobility who understand that the Xyber is not simply a conventional pedal-assist bicycle.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not buy on range alone: real-world distance depends on rider weight, terrain, speed, temperature, tire pressure, assistance level and how much throttle is used.

How to choose among the CES 2025 fitness products

  1. Choose the Garmin Instinct 3 for outdoor capability. It is the clearest choice here for GPS-based training, rugged use, navigation and minimizing time near a charger. Select AMOLED for a more vivid display or solar for the strongest endurance-oriented rationale.
  2. Choose the Circular Ring 2 for the direct smart-ring comparison. It is the product most explicitly positioned against Oura, but investigate the current app, support, regulatory wording, pricing and return policy before treating it as a health-monitoring purchase.
  3. Choose Suunto Aqua if swimming is the deciding use case. Its offline storage and swim-specific analysis are more relevant than a general-purpose smartwatch’s feature count.
  4. Choose Amazfit Active 2 for affordable everyday smartwatch features. It offers a bright AMOLED screen, maps and many workout modes at a much lower launch position than the Garmin, but regional software and payment support need checking.
  5. Choose Ultrahuman Rare only when luxury materials are central to the purchase. Its precious-metal construction and limited distribution make it a statement accessory as much as a fitness device.
  6. Treat Amp as a research project, not an impulse purchase. Confirm the specific machine’s recall status and repair resolution before considering it.
  7. Treat Withings Omnia as a technology preview. There was no confirmed product to compare, price or recommend.
  8. Check Xyber’s legal status before evaluating its performance. The correct question is whether the exact model is permitted where you intend to ride.

What CES 2025 got right—and what it could not prove

CES 2025 showed fitness technology moving in several directions at once. Garmin pushed rugged watches toward longer endurance and more capable navigation. Circular and Ultrahuman made smart rings more differentiated, though in very different ways: one around sizing and health features, the other around luxury materials. Suunto focused on a neglected training environment—open-water and pool swimming—while Amazfit made a broad set of smartwatch features more accessible.

At the same time, the show highlighted the gap between a specification and a buying recommendation. A claimed 24-day battery life does not reveal how a particular GPS-heavy user will fare. A ring with ECG hardware does not automatically provide a diagnosis. A machine with AI coaching is not safe if a mechanical arm can fail to lock. A 112-mile e-bike range does not settle legality or real-world distance. And a smart mirror concept does not establish clinical usefulness.

The best product depends on the job: Garmin for rugged outdoor fitness, Circular for the Oura-comparison conversation, Suunto for swimming, Amazfit for affordable general smartwatch use and Ultrahuman Rare for luxury wearability. Amp, Omnia and Xyber are more valuable as carefully qualified examples of where the category was going than as straightforward recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which CES 2025 fitness product is best for outdoor athletes?

Garmin Instinct 3 is the strongest choice for outdoor training, navigation and long battery life. It offers AMOLED or solar models, multi-band GPS with SatIQ, rugged construction, a built-in flashlight and extensive Garmin training features. Its battery and durability figures are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

Is Circular Ring 2 as good as Oura Ring?

No. Circular Ring 2 was presented as an Oura rival, but that describes its market position rather than proving equivalent accuracy, software quality or ecosystem support. Its ECG and atrial-fibrillation feature also should not be treated as a diagnosis or a replacement for medical care.

Which CES 2025 wearable is best for swimmers?

Suunto Aqua is the most specialized option for swimming. It has onboard storage, open-ear bone-conduction audio and swim-analysis features. Suunto’s 10-hour playback figure is a maximum claim, and its user guide notes that offline music can reduce playback time in the stated operating context.

Should you buy the Amp AI home-gym machine?

Amp published a December 18, 2025 voluntary recall for certain MP2 machines sold online from January through August 2025. The reported hazard involved an arm swinging unexpectedly if it did not lock properly. Owners of an affected machine should stop using it and contact Amp for inspection and repair before considering further use.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Garmin Instinct 3 was the most complete fitness product announced at CES 2025, especially for outdoor users. Circular Ring 2 was the most direct Oura rival, Suunto Aqua the most purpose-built option for swimmers and Amazfit Active 2 the most accessible general smartwatch. Ultrahuman Rare was a luxury niche product, Withings Omnia remained a concept, Segway Xyber required careful legality checks, and Amp’s later MP2 recall means it should not be recommended without confirmed safety resolution.
