Apple released watchOS 11.5 on May 12, 2025. The update added the Pride Harmony watch face, enabled Apple Watch purchase authorization for Apple TV on supported third-party devices, and fixed a problem that could stop an iPhone from notifying you when a connected Apple Watch finished charging.
watchOS 11.5 was a relatively small feature update, but it also included security fixes across core Apple Watch components. It is no longer the newest watchOS release as of August 12, 2026, so treat this as retrospective release coverage rather than a recommendation to seek out an older version instead of installing the latest compatible update.

Pride Harmony is the headline feature
Pride Harmony is an analog Apple Watch face built around individual rainbow-colored stripes. Apple says the stripes dynamically shift in sequence across the display and form large hour numerals when you raise your wrist to check the time.

The face was introduced as part of Apple’s 2025 Pride Collection and shares its visual language with the Pride Edition Sport Band. The software face does not require the physical band: installing watchOS 11.5 is enough to make the face available on a compatible watch.
How to add the Pride Harmony face
- Open the Watch app on the paired iPhone.
- Tap Face Gallery.
- Look for Pride Harmony in the available watch-face collections.
- Choose the face, adjust any available options, and tap Add or Set as current Watch Face.
Apple also made the matching Pride design available through the Apple Watch app, the Apple Store app, and Apple.com. Face and wallpaper availability can vary by software version, region, or storefront configuration.
Do you need the Pride Edition Sport Band?
No. The band is an optional accessory. It is a physical fluoroelastomer band with a pin-and-tuck closure, while Pride Harmony is software included with the update.
If you want the physical match, the Apple Watch Pride Edition Sport Band was offered in 40mm, 42mm, and 46mm case-size versions, with S/M and M/L wrist-size choices depending on the case size. Check both the connector or case-size compatibility and the wrist-size range before buying: a band intended for a different connector size may not fit your watch correctly. Live availability, seller authenticity, price, and regional stock should be verified before purchase.

Compatible Apple Watch models
Apple’s watchOS 11.5 security documentation identifies Apple Watch Series 6 and later as the supported hardware range. Compatibility also includes:
- Apple Watch Series 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10
- Apple Watch SE (2nd generation)
- All Apple Watch Ultra models
Earlier models, including Apple Watch Series 5 and the first-generation Apple Watch SE, are not part of the documented watchOS 11.5 hardware range. The exact update offered to a watch depends on its model, paired iPhone, installed software, and Apple’s current update policy.
How to install watchOS 11.5
For a compatible watch, the normal update route is through the paired iPhone:
- Place the Apple Watch on its charger.
- Make sure the watch has at least 50% battery, as required by Apple’s update guidance.
- Keep the paired iPhone and Apple Watch close together.
- On the iPhone, open Watch.
- Tap My Watch > General > Software Update.
- Follow the prompts to download and install the available update.
Apple Watch updates can also be initiated directly on the watch when that option is supported: open Settings > General > Software Update. Keep the watch connected to its charger while installation runs. Do not remove it from the charger or restart it unnecessarily during the update.

If watchOS 11.5 does not appear, check the model first. Then confirm that the paired iPhone is updated enough to support the desired watchOS branch, the devices have an active connection, and there is sufficient storage and battery. In 2026, Apple may offer a later compatible release rather than watchOS 11.5 specifically.
Apple Watch purchase approval for Apple TV
watchOS 11.5 added the ability to use an Apple Watch to authorize purchases of content in the Apple TV app on supported third-party devices. This is useful when the Apple TV app is running on a compatible television or streaming device rather than an Apple TV box.
The feature is not a blanket promise that every third-party television, streaming player, Apple TV app installation, account, or country supports Apple Watch authorization. Availability depends on the third-party device, the Apple TV app version, the account and payment setup, and regional support. Apple’s release notes describe the capability, but they do not establish universal availability across every Apple TV app platform.
The charging-notification fix
Before watchOS 11.5, an issue could prevent the paired iPhone from showing a notification when the Apple Watch battery was fully charged. Apple lists this as fixed in the update.

This is a correction to an existing notification behavior, not a claim that watchOS 11.5 improves charging speed, battery capacity, or battery life. If a full-charge alert is still missing after updating, check that the iPhone and watch remain paired, notifications are enabled, and the watch is actually connected to its charger. Other Focus, notification, or connectivity settings can also affect what appears on the iPhone.

Apple’s consumer-facing release notes emphasize the three changes above, but the watchOS 11.5 security bulletin documents a much broader set of fixes. Affected areas include:

- CoreAudio
- CoreGraphics
- CoreMedia
- ImageIO
- Kernel
- libexpat
- mDNSResponder
- Security
- StoreKit
- WebKit
- Wi-Fi
Depending on the component and vulnerability, the listed issues could lead to unexpected application termination, memory corruption, code execution, data disclosure, privilege escalation, or denial of service. Apple’s bulletin includes multiple CVE identifiers, including CVE-2025-31200, CVE-2025-31212, CVE-2025-31219, CVE-2025-31221, and CVE-2025-31223. Apple notes that some vulnerability information was added or updated after the original release, so the live Apple security bulletin is the appropriate source for the current complete list rather than an old static summary.
There was also a developer-facing StoreKit correction: isEligibleForIntroOffer(for:) returns false when no user account is signed in. That change matters primarily to developers building or testing StoreKit-based apps, not to typical Apple Watch owners.

Should you install watchOS 11.5 now?
If your watch is still running an older release and watchOS 11.5 is the update being offered, its security fixes and charging-notification correction make updating preferable to staying on an earlier version. However, as of August 12, 2026, later watchOS 11.x and watchOS 26.x documentation exists.
