What is the MB&F HM8 Mark 2 Blue Edition?
It is the blue-panel version of MB&F’s HM8 Mark 2, a Horological Machine conceived around automotive design cues. The brand connects it to earlier HM5, HMX and HM8 models, including their emphasis on a speedometer-style time display and exposed mechanics. MB&F lists the blue edition as limited to 33 pieces. The case combines grade 5 titanium with blue CarbonMacrolon® panels. The white calfskin strap gives this sapphire-blue model a contrasting finish; its buckle is titanium. The crystals have anti-reflective coating on both faces, according to MB&F.
How does the HM8 Mark 2 tell time?
The watch does not present its hours and minutes on a conventional dial. Instead, two horizontal discs carry the indications, which are reflected through sapphire prisms and magnified into a vertical display that can be read from the front. This optical arrangement is central to the HM8’s character: the driver-inspired readout faces outward while the three-dimensional movement remains visible through the watch’s construction. The magnifying lenses are integrated into the reflective sapphire prisms.
What movement powers the HM8 Mark 2 Blue?
The automatic movement combines a Girard-Perregaux base movement with MB&F’s in-house module for jumping hours and trailing minutes. Its 22K gold winding rotor supplies automatic winding, and MB&F specifies a 42-hour power reserve. The movement runs at 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz) and contains 247 components and 30 jewels. What stands out in the case design?
MB&F describes the inner chassis as independently water-resistant, with the external body panels fitted around it. The crown has a push-and-turn release: push it in and turn it three-quarters of a turn to release it. MB&F also says the double-curved sapphire crystal was unusually difficult to produce, describing its complexity as 30 to 40 times that of a dome sapphire. That comparison is the brand’s statement about production complexity, not an independently established industry measurement.
What does 30 metres of water resistance mean?
MB&F’s 2024 technical release specifies 30 m / 3 atm. Treat that as the watch’s stated water-resistance rating, not as a recommendation or guarantee for swimming or diving; the cited specification does not establish suitability for either activity.

How does the blue edition compare with other HM8 Mark 2 versions?
Color and edition status are the clearest confirmed distinctions. MB&F identifies the blue, green and purple versions as limited to 33 pieces each. The white-panel model is not listed with a limited quantity on the official product page. The cited specifications do not establish a complete, model-by-model comparison of availability, price, strap, dimensions or movement for every version, so those details should be checked against the specific watch and seller rather than inferred from the blue model.
