It pairs a restrained sports-watch design with an automatic date movement and a manufacturer-rated 20 atm water resistance. The headline choice is between two references: 518, with a steel caseback, and 528, with a sapphire display back.
What is new about the Atlantic?
The change is the dial colorway, not a new movement or case family. NOMOS describes the dial as deep Atlantic blue, with sand-colored luminous indexes outlined in green, rhodium-plated hands, and a red seconds hand. The watch is supplied on a blue-black woven waterproof textile strap.

The palette adds color to the Ahoi’s clean layout without changing its basic proposition: an automatic sports watch with a date display. NOMOS announced the Atlantic in 2024, so “new” refers to its introduction rather than a 2026 launch.
Which reference should you choose?

The display back is the practical differentiator: reference 528 lets you see the movement, while reference 518 closes the case with steel. NOMOS’s detailed current specifications cited here are for the 528; the 518 figures come from a fact sheet dated May 2025, which notes that technical details can change. Prices above come from different regional pages and should not be compared as if they were quotes in the same market or currency.

How large is the 38.5 mm case?
Both references are listed at 38.5 mm in diameter. For reference 528, NOMOS also gives a 48.7 mm lug-to-lug measurement, which describes the span from one end of the lugs to the other and can be useful when assessing how a watch may sit across a wrist. The 528 is 9.9 mm thick; the May 2025 518 fact sheet lists 9.8 mm.
Those measurements provide a basis for comparison, not a fit guarantee. No hands-on wear assessment is established here, and wrist shape, strap fit, and personal preference all affect how a watch feels.

What movement and date mechanism does it use?
The Ahoi Atlantic uses NOMOS’s automatic DUW 6101 movement. The manufacturer lists 42 jewels and a power reserve of up to 42 hours. The movement is 3.6 mm high and 33.0 mm in diameter, and includes NOMOS’s proprietary swing system.
NOMOS describes the date mechanism as patented, with a date ring arranged around the movement. On the 528 product page, the company says the ring makes four turns in 24 hours and has a 90-minute locking time. These are manufacturer descriptions; no independent accuracy or performance testing is established here.

What does 20 atm water resistance mean here?
NOMOS rates both references to 20 atm and describes the watch as suitable for diving. The company’s product copy says, “In other words—you can leave it on when diving!” That is NOMOS’s characterization of its own rating, not an independent test or a substitute for guidance about diving equipment and practice.
For reference 528, the listed construction includes a screw-down crown with crown guard. The rating and construction make the Ahoi a more water-oriented proposition than a dress watch, but the figures here are manufacturer specifications rather than independent durability findings.

What to weigh before buying
- Choose 528 if seeing the movement through a sapphire display back matters to you; it is 0.1 mm thicker than the 518 measurement in NOMOS’s May 2025 fact sheet.
- Choose 518 if you prefer a steel caseback. Check the current local specification and price, since the cited fact sheet is dated and regional pricing varies.
- Consider the measurements together: 38.5 mm diameter is only part of the fit picture; the 528’s 48.7 mm lug-to-lug is also relevant, and no wrist-fit test is available.
- Judge the water rating in context: 20 atm and the diving-suitability language are NOMOS claims, not independent test results.
