What is the Oris Yangtze Jiangtun Limited Edition?
It is a limited-edition version of the Aquis Date, Oris’s dive-watch line, created around the Yangtze finless porpoise. The Ireland product listing identifies the watch as reference 01 733 7789 4197-Set and specifies a production run of 1,249 pieces. Oris describes the model as a special Aquis Date with a mother-of-pearl dial.
The edition number also carries a conservation reference: Fratello and Monochrome report that 1,249 was the population figure reported for the porpoise by 2022. They cite an earlier estimate of 1,012 in 2017. These are dated figures reported by specialist watch publications, not a current, independently verified population census.
What makes the design different?
Blue-green mother-of-pearl dial
Oris calls the dial green and identifies its material as mother-of-pearl. Fratello and Monochrome describe its appearance as blue-green and note a wave- or echo-inspired pattern. The shifting surface gives the Aquis’s familiar diver layout a more explicitly aquatic character.

Tungsten bezel detail
Oris specifies a tungsten minutes-scale top ring; specialist coverage describes it as a tungsten bezel insert. The case itself is stainless steel. This metal contrast is one of the model’s key material distinctions.
Porpoise engraving
Fratello and Monochrome report that the solid steel caseback is engraved with a Yangtze finless porpoise and the individual limited-edition number. That detail connects the watch to its conservation theme without changing the standard Aquis Date’s practical brief.

How much does it cost?
Oris’s Ireland storefront lists the watch at EUR 2,550. This is a regional listing, not a universal price, and storefront prices can change. Fratello reports €2,550, CHF 2,550 and US$3,000; Monochrome’s article text gives CHF 2,550, but its specification block conflicts with that figure, so it does not establish a reliable alternative Swiss price. Check the Oris storefront for your region before buying.
What does the conservation connection mean?
Oris says the limited edition supports the Changjiang Conservation Foundation’s work conserving the critically endangered Yangtze finless porpoise. Fratello reports that Oris donated eight watches for a foundation auction, with proceeds intended for porpoise-protection projects. Neither the official product listing nor the cited specialist coverage establishes how much, if anything, is donated from each retail sale.

The porpoise is a freshwater mammal native to the Yangtze River system. The dated population figures reported by Fratello and Monochrome help explain the edition’s 1,249-piece symbolism, but should not be read as a current count.
How large is it, and what should fit-minded buyers consider?
At 43.50 mm in diameter, with a reported 51 mm lug-to-lug span and 13.1 mm thickness, this is a substantial watch on paper. Diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears: lug-to-lug length, wrist shape and personal preference all matter. The 23 mm interhorn width is listed by Oris. No hands-on wear assessment is established by the available coverage, so trying it on is the best way to judge fit.
