The Seiko Prospex Marinemaster SJE117 and SJE119 are 1965-inspired mechanical divers with the same listed case dimensions, Caliber 6L37 movement, and 200 m diver’s water resistance. Seiko’s reviewed sources document the SJE119’s navy dial, but do not establish a full official color comparison with the SJE117. The choice is best made by checking the current regional listings, preferred dial, dimensions, and price rather than assuming a technical difference.
What Seiko launched
Seiko’s global collection page lists the SJE117 and SJE119 as Marinemaster 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch references available from July 2024. The collection belongs to a design line inspired by the 1965 62MAS, which Seiko describes as its first diver’s watch and Japan’s first diver’s watch. Seiko’s 2023 launch release provides context for the line, but describes earlier launch models and should not be taken as the release history or current pricing for these two references.

Seiko says the slimline Caliber 6L37 and reconsidered case structure make this its thinnest mechanical diver’s watch currently, at 12.3 mm, while allowing a view of the movement through the case back. That is Seiko’s description of the design, not an independent comparative assessment.
SJE117 vs. SJE119: what is documented?
| Model | Documented details | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| SJE117 | Listed by Seiko as a Marinemaster 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch with Caliber 6L37. | Consult the current listing for its dial appearance and regional price; the reviewed sources do not provide a complete written side-by-side color description. |
| SJE119 | Seiko Boutique UK describes a blue-water navy dial with horizontal texture and rectangular LumiBrite-coated indices. | Price and availability depend on the region and date of the listing. |
The official regional product pages reviewed list the same main mechanical and dimensional specifications for both references. The dossier does not include independent legibility or performance testing, so it does not establish a technical winner. See Seiko’s global Marinemaster collection page and the official SJE117 specifications and SJE119 specifications.

Dimensions and wearability
Seiko’s regional product pages list these shared dimensions:
| Specification | SJE117 and SJE119 |
|---|---|
| Case diameter | 39.5 mm |
| Thickness | 12.3 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 47.2 mm |
| Lug spacing | 20 mm |
These figures describe a relatively compact case for a mechanical diver, but they cannot predict how a watch will fit a particular wrist. The reviewed sources do not provide a hands-on fit test, so try the watch on if possible and consider wrist shape and bracelet sizing.
Seiko lists a box-shaped sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating. The company’s launch release describes the design as balancing a slim profile with water and shock resistance. Seiko Boutique UK describes the SJE119’s mirror-finished lugs; do not assume every detail of that regional product description applies identically to every reference without checking its listing.
Bracelet and clasp
Seiko’s regional specifications list a stainless-steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp, secure lock, push-button release, and extender. They do not establish universal comfort or long-term durability, and the reviewed sources do not verify a tool-less micro-adjustment feature or support a comparative clasp assessment. Check the current reference-specific listing for the configuration in your market.

Seiko’s Caliber 6L37
Both references use Seiko’s automatic/manual-winding Caliber 6L37. Seiko’s regional pages list these specifications:
- Approximately 45 hours of power reserve
- 26 jewels
- Stated accuracy of +15 to −10 seconds per day
The accuracy figure is Seiko’s published specification, not a measurement of an individual watch. No independent timing test is included in the research, and the sources reviewed do not describe these references as chronometer-certified. Buyers should weigh the stated accuracy and reserve alongside the case size, design, price, and service access.
Price and buying considerations
Seiko Boutique UK listed the SJE119 at £2,930 when researched on 2026-10-07. This is a regional listing price, not a universal price or a guarantee of availability. Seiko’s 2023 launch release gave €3,400 recommended retail prices for its initial creations and said prices were subject to change; that historical launch price should not be treated as the current price of the SJE117 or SJE119. Check the current official listing and authorized retailer in your market before buying.
