The M.A.D.1 Green is a September 2023 colour edition of MB&F’s M.A.D.1 watch, not a new movement or complication. Its vivid green accents frame an unusual lateral display: rotating hour and minute cylinders are read from the side, using a pointer between the lower lugs.
What is the M.A.D.1 Green?
MB&F says the M.A.D.1 Green joined the series in September 2023, after the Blue and Red editions. It carries the M.A.D.1 platform’s distinctive display into a green-and-black palette. The official M.A.D.1 Green page provides the edition context; the specifications and launch price below were reported by Monochrome Watches in its 12 September 2023 launch article.
How does the M.A.D.1 Green show the time?
Instead of conventional hands viewed from above, the watch presents the hours and minutes on rotating cylinders visible laterally. A pointer between the lower lugs indicates the readings. This means the wearer reads the time from the side of the case, rather than looking down at a standard dial.
At the top, a triple-blade rotor spins to wind the automatic movement. Monochrome describes its fast rotation as part of the watch’s playful appeal, likening it to a “fidget spinner”; that is the article’s characterization, not a measured performance claim.

What changed for the Green edition?
Monochrome describes the Green as visually and technically aligned with the Red model apart from its colour treatment. Green finishing appears on the underside of the movement, the hour cylinder and a ring around the movement. The black perforated leather-and-textile strap has green stitching. Together, those details make the colour the edition’s defining change rather than a different mechanical proposition.

How was the watch allocated, and can you get one now?
Monochrome reported that the Green launch used the established raffle format: a registration period followed by a draw. Its original delivery plan ran from October 2023 through April 2024. Those were launch-era arrangements, not evidence of current stock or delivery dates.
MB&F says it chose raffles after considering other allocation systems and invites visitors to request notice when the next raffle opens. That invitation does not establish that a Green-specific raffle is open now. Check the current status through MB&F’s official M.A.D.1 Green page before assuming the model is available.

Why did MB&F create M.A.D.Editions?
Founder Maximilian Büsser described the motivation behind the line as making work with a different price point possible for people close to him. He said: “I absolutely LOVE creating insane MB&F Machines – and I still do! – but their very high price, due to their complexity, production and quality of finishing, had created a bit of frustration in me: my family and friends could never afford them.” The statement explains the project’s rationale; it does not mean the M.A.D.1 Green was inexpensive in absolute terms.
