When Monochrome Watches published its first look on 19 November 2025, it reported a price of CHF 185,000 excluding taxes and availability from November 2025, with no production limit. Those launch details are a reported snapshot from that date, not a current price or stock position.

Case and design
The case is the central visual point of the watch. Monochrome Watches describes the platinum version as a refinement of the original rather than a copy: the lugs are hand-soldered and arch downward for wrist comfort, and the profile is slimmer than the earlier model. The caseback is open, so the movement is visible from the back.
The double-ellipse case
The double-ellipse outline is the signature of the revived Daniel Roth line. In the platinum version it is polished throughout, which gives the case a bright, metallic finish in contrast to the matte-looking anthracite dial.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The anthracite dial
The dial combines several finishes on one surface. The base is white gold with an anthracite treatment and pinstripe hand-guilloché. Fluted hand-guilloché borders frame the dial, and an applied sterling-silver disc carries the hours and minutes. According to the article, the white-gold dial components are made in-house at the manufacture’s guillochage workshop. The black Roman numerals and hands keep the layout legible against the dark ground.
The DR001 movement and tourbillon
The DR001 is a shaped, manual-winding calibre developed and assembled by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the manufacture that oversees the Daniel Roth brand’s development, manufacture and assembly. Its 206 components and 19 jewels drive a one-minute tourbillon that beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour.

Power reserve and winding
Because the calibre is manual-winding, it must be wound by hand. The article gives a stated power reserve of 80 hours. That is the manufacturer-level figure reported by the article; it was not measured in an independent test, so real-world reserve will depend on wearing habits and the condition of the movement.
Display of the tourbillon seconds
The small seconds are not on a conventional subdial. They are indicated on the tourbillon itself, using three hands and a triple 20-second scale. The off-centred hours and minutes leave the tourbillon as the focal point of the dial.

Lineage: from the Tourbillon C187 to the platinum edition
The article traces the design to the original Daniel Roth Tourbillon C187, introduced in 1988. For historical context, Monochrome Watches reports that the original used a one-minute tourbillon and a triple 20-second display, and that it was a 35 × 38 mm watch with a manual-winding Lemania 387 base movement. Those historical details come from that article; they are not checked against a separate primary source.
| Attribute | Original Tourbillon C187 (1988, as reported) | Tourbillon Platinum DAAG01A1 (2025, as reported) |
|---|---|---|
| Case dimensions | 35 × 38 mm | 38.6 × 35.5 mm, 9.2 mm thick |
| Movement | Manual-winding, based on Lemania 387 | Manual-winding calibre DR001 |
| Tourbillon | One-minute | One-minute, 21,600 vibrations per hour |
| Seconds display | Triple 20-second display | Triple 20-second scale on the tourbillon |
| Caseback | Not stated in the article | Open, sapphire crystal |
| Case material | Not stated in the article | Polished platinum |
The article also mentions earlier gold versions of the revived model but does not offer a full comparison of them, so this page does not compare the platinum edition with those gold references.

Price and availability as reported in November 2025
At launch, Monochrome Watches reported a price of CHF 185,000 excluding taxes. The same article reported availability from November 2025 and no production limit. What to confirm before you buy or write about it
- Confirm the reference is DAAG01A1 and that the case is platinum, since the earlier gold versions use different materials.
- Ask an authorized Daniel Roth point of sale for the current retail price in your country, including taxes.
- Check whether the watch is still in the regular collection and whether it is in stock; the November 2025 article cannot answer this.
- Ask for the official specifications sheet, and check the power reserve, dimensions and strap against it.
- Note that the beige calfskin strap is part of the supplied package as reported; no replacement strap details were reported.
