What is the Zenith G.F.J. Calibre 135?
This is the platinum G.F.J. anniversary reference 40.1865.0135/51.C200, introduced in 2025 for Zenith’s 160th anniversary. The edition is limited to 160 watches, according to Zenith’s official US product page and launch technical sheet. It is one specific version of the G.F.J.; later collection listings show other variants, whose specifications should not be assumed to apply to this platinum model.
The name points to Georges Favre-Jacot, Zenith’s founder. The central story, though, is the return of the historic Calibre 135 in a modern watch—not a claim that the 2025 movement is simply an untouched vintage mechanism.
What does the modern Calibre 135 do differently?
Zenith says the new movement retains the dimensions, appearance and architecture of the historical Calibre 135 while being re-engineered for contemporary use. Its press kit describes an offset center wheel that makes room for an oversized balance wheel. The product page also specifies a Breguet overcoil and stop-second mechanism.

What does “most awarded” mean?
Zenith describes Calibre 135 as “the most awarded movement from the golden age of observatory chronometer competitions.” That is the brand’s characterization. A primary historical record establishing the superlative or a competition total is not available in the sources cited here, so it should not be treated as an independently verified tally.

Zenith’s product description also says the modern movement’s changes are intended to enhance reliability, precision and performance while preserving the original’s essence. Those are manufacturer claims, not measured results for this watch.
Case, dial and supplied straps
The platinum 950 case is 39 mm across on Zenith’s current product page; its 2025 technical sheet gives the more precise diameter as 39.15 mm. The sheet lists a thickness of 10.5 mm and water resistance of 5 ATM. Zenith describes a stepped bezel and curved stepped lugs.

The blue dial combines three distinct materials and finishes: brick guilloché on the outer ring, a lapis lazuli center and a mother-of-pearl small-seconds counter. Applied 18-carat white-gold indices and faceted 18-carat white-gold hands complete the display.
Zenith’s technical sheet lists three supplied straps: dark-blue alligator leather with a platinum pin buckle, black calfskin and blue Saffiano calfskin. The different strap options give the watch a choice of finishes without changing the platinum case or lapis-centered dial that identify this reference.

Zenith’s 2025 technical sheet listed launch prices of 48,900 CHF, 52,900 EUR and 49,900 USD. The official US product page also displayed $49,900 and marked the reference “Sold out” when accessed on October 3, 2026.
