The 2025 YEMA Granvelle CMM.20 paired a slim, cushion-shaped dress-watch case inspired by Besançon’s Granvelle Palace with YEMA’s automatic micro-rotor movement. The launch model measured 39 mm across and 8.6 mm thick, with a 70-hour power reserve claimed by YEMA. There is an important current-model distinction: official YEMA product pages reviewed on October 4, 2026 list Granvelle watches as CMM.29, even though their URLs still contain “cmm-20.”
What is the YEMA Granvelle?
The Granvelle is a dress watch introduced in 2025 as a more formal counterpoint to the sports watches that have made up much of YEMA’s catalogue. Its defining feature is a softened, cushion-shaped steel case. YEMA says the shape draws on the basket-handle arches in the courtyard gallery of Granvelle Palace in Besançon, a sixteenth-century Renaissance building that now houses the city’s Museum of Time.
The dial combines an off-center concentric pattern around the small-seconds display at nine o’clock with a sculpted chapter ring and faceted hands. YEMA’s current product pages describe brushed 316L steel, polished coin-edge flanks and polished bevels. The result is a dress-watch design with more case and dial geometry than a plain round, two-hand watch.
How thin is the Granvelle, and how might it fit?
The 2025 launch coverage gives the CMM.20 a 39 mm diameter, 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 8.6 mm thickness. YEMA’s current Granvelle listings confirm a 39 mm case, 8.60 mm thickness and 20 mm lug width, but do not state the lug-to-lug measurement. A slim case can sit neatly beneath a cuff; the 47 mm span is also useful to consider if your wrist is short or narrow.

Fratello’s Daan de Groot reported that the launch watch wore “rather well” on his 17 cm wrist, crediting the 47 mm lug-to-lug and rounded corners. That is one reviewer’s impression, not a fit guarantee: wrist shape, strap choice and personal preference affect how a case wears.
What movement is in the Granvelle CMM.20?
The launch-generation Granvelle used YEMA’s CMM.20 self-winding micro-rotor calibre. YEMA’s published specifications list 70 hours of power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 A/h, 33 jewels, a stated daily rate of -3/+7 seconds and a movement thickness of 3.70 mm. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent accuracy or endurance test results. The thin movement is central to the watch’s 8.6 mm launch-era case profile.

YEMA says the CMM.20 was designed and developed by Olivier Mory in La Chaux-de-Fonds. According to the company, regulating components are made in Switzerland, while bridges and mainplates are made in YEMA’s workshops in Morteau; the movement is assembled in France. Franceclat’s 2026 company profile separately notes YEMA’s in-house development and machining and assembly activity. Those details support a cross-border manufacturing account, not a blanket claim that the watch is “100% French-made.”
What changed between the CMM.20 launch and current CMM.29 listings?
The name needs care when comparing launch coverage with current listings. Fratello’s May 2025 launch report describes the Granvelle CMM.20. Official YEMA product pages reviewed on October 4, 2026 use “CMM.29” in their product headings and identify the movement as Manufacture Morteau 29 / CMM.29. The page URLs still include “cmm-20,” so the heading and listed specifications are the clearer guide to the model shown there.

Is the YEMA Granvelle water resistant?
YEMA lists 5 BAR / 50 m water resistance for the current Granvelle, and Fratello reported 50 m for the launch watch. That is modest water resistance for a dress watch, not a specification that makes the Granvelle a dive watch. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance for the particular watch and avoid assuming a depth rating guarantees suitability for every water activity.

Which Granvelle dial should you choose?
The launch introduction offered blue, green and black dials. Fratello reviewer Daan de Groot preferred blue, while noting it could look black or purple in some light; he found the green brighter and the black somewhat grayish. He also thought the carved chapter ring and off-center concentric pattern might feel busy. Those are subjective observations from one reviewer, not differences in function or performance.
