What is new about the blue-dial Chronomaster Original?
Zenith’s June 26, 2025 announcement described this as the first Chronomaster Original to combine a blue dial with the collection’s emblematic tricolour counters. The midnight-blue dial has overlapping grey, dark-grey and blue registers, set against a silver-toned 1/10-second chapter ring. Applied baton-style markers and hands complete the display.
The design draws on the 1969 A386, including a bezel-less round case, pump-style pushers, sloped profile and faceted lugs. This is a modern interpretation, not a literal reproduction of the vintage A386: the contemporary case and El Primero 3600 movement belong to the current Chronomaster Original. Zenith’s release attributes both the “first” distinction and the design lineage to the brand.
How does the 1/10-second chronograph work?
The automatic El Primero 3600 is a column-wheel chronograph running at 36,000 vibrations per hour, or 5 Hz. Its central chronograph hand completes one full turn every 10 seconds, allowing elapsed time to be read against the dial’s 1/10-second scale. It is not a conventional central seconds hand that takes 60 seconds to circle the dial.

Zenith specifies a 60-second counter at 3 o’clock and a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock. The movement also has stop seconds and an approximately 60-hour power reserve. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent timing-test results.

The published details establish the blue dial’s layout, the watch’s dimensions, its movement specifications and what comes in the package.
