Which Fitbit devices support Google Wallet?
Google lists these Fitbit devices for Google Wallet or contactless payments:
| Device | Status | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Fitbit Charge 3 Special Edition | Supported | The NFC-equipped Special Edition is required. |
| Fitbit Charge 4 | Supported | Bank, card, and country restrictions still apply. |
| Fitbit Charge 5 | Supported | Check Fitbit-specific card support. |
| Fitbit Charge 6 | Supported | Uses Google Wallet for contactless payments. |
| Fitbit Sense | Supported | Eligibility depends on region and card. |
| Fitbit Sense 2 | Supported | Uses Google Wallet for contactless payments. |
| Fitbit Versa Special Edition | Supported | The NFC-capable model is required. |
| Fitbit Versa 2 | Supported | Check bank and card eligibility. |
| Fitbit Versa 3 | Supported | Check bank and card eligibility. |
| Fitbit Versa 4 | Supported | Uses Google Wallet for contactless payments. |
| Fitbit Ionic | Not supported for migration | The Ionic was recalled and cannot be moved from Fitbit Pay. |
| Fitbit Ace LTE | Listed separately by Google | Do not treat it as a normal legacy Fitbit Pay migration. |
Google’s Wallet device list and Google Health contactless-payment guidance should be treated as the authority. Older Charge 3 and Versa models are especially easy to confuse: not every ordinary edition necessarily contains NFC hardware.

How to switch from Fitbit Pay to Google Wallet
Google’s documentation currently uses both the Fitbit app and the Google Health app. Menu names may therefore vary by account, device, rollout, and app version. The newer Google Health guidance specifies version 4.27 or later.
- Update the relevant Fitbit or Google Health companion app.
- Keep the Fitbit close to your phone, with Bluetooth enabled and an internet connection available.
- Open the companion app and go to the device page. In the Fitbit app, this is generally Today > Devices > your Fitbit.
- Sign in with the Google Account associated with the Fitbit.
- Set or confirm the Fitbit’s four-digit device PIN.
- Open Google Wallet or the device’s payment settings.
- Add a supported credit or debit card, then complete any bank verification.
- Select the card and make it the default card for tap-to-pay.
If the Fitbit app no longer shows Wallet settings, look for the equivalent device and payment controls in Google Health. Google’s current setup instructions are summarized on its Wallet help page.
Do Fitbit Pay cards transfer automatically?
No. You must add every payment card again. Fitbit Pay used legacy payment tokens; Google Wallet on Fitbit provisions payment credentials through a different system. This is more than a change of name in the app.

Google says that once you move to Google Wallet, you cannot return to Fitbit Pay and the old Fitbit Pay cards are deleted. The card must also be supported specifically on Fitbit. A card that works in Google Wallet on an Android phone may not work on the Fitbit.
What you need before setup
- A compatible Fitbit with NFC/contactless-payment hardware.
- A supported country or region.
- A bank and card network supported by Google Wallet on Fitbit.
- The current companion app and a Google Account.
- Bluetooth enabled and an internet connection during provisioning.
- A four-digit Fitbit device PIN or screen lock.
- The phone and Fitbit close together.
Card eligibility can depend on the exact card type, including whether it is credit, debit, prepaid, corporate, or co-branded. Google maintains a Fitbit-specific supported-bank list; do not rely only on the list for Google Wallet on your phone.
What to do if Google Wallet cannot add your card
- Confirm the model. Check whether it is an NFC-equipped Charge 3 or Versa edition, rather than assuming the model name is enough.
- Check the country and issuer. Payment support varies by region and bank.
- Check Fitbit-specific support. Phone Wallet compatibility does not guarantee Fitbit compatibility.
- Update the app and Fitbit software. Use the current Fitbit or Google Health setup path.
- Resolve connection errors. Keep the devices nearby, toggle Bluetooth, confirm Wi-Fi or cellular internet, restart both devices, and try again.
- Contact the bank if provisioning is rejected. The issuer controls card eligibility; Google cannot simply enable an unsupported card.
If the card remains unsupported, use Google Wallet on the phone, add another eligible card, or use another payment-capable wearable. You can continue using the Fitbit for health and activity tracking if wrist payments are not essential.

Important account and security edge cases
Changing phones
Google’s documented recovery path is to install the Fitbit app on the new phone, open Google Wallet for the Fitbit, and check whether the cards reappear. Security verification or card reauthorization may still be required.
Removing the Fitbit PIN
Removing the screen lock deletes the cards stored in Google Wallet on the Fitbit. Set a screen lock again and add the cards again.
Changing Google Accounts
Only one Google Account can be associated with a Fitbit device. Changing the account deletes cards added to that Fitbit, so payment methods must be provisioned again under the correct account.

- Sleep better: Automatic sleep tracking, a daily detailed Sleep Score, smart wake vibrating alarm, and sleep mode help you improve your sleep quality[3]
Resetting or replacing the Fitbit
Treat a factory reset or replacement as requiring payment-card reauthorization. Do not assume the cards will survive the reset.
Loss or theft
Remove the cards from the Fitbit using the phone’s Fitbit or Google Wallet controls. The Fitbit’s four-digit PIN is also required to make a payment from the device.
Regional payment features
Google’s Fitbit documentation includes separate references to systems such as Suica and iPASS. Transit functionality is region-specific and may depend on the supported card, device, and transport system. Do not assume that a feature documented for Japan or Taiwan applies to the United States or every other market.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDo you need a new Fitbit?
Not necessarily. If your Charge 3 Special Edition, Charge 4 or 5, Sense, Sense 2, Versa Special Edition, Versa 2, Versa 3, or Versa 4 supports Google Wallet and your card is eligible, you may be able to keep using the existing device.
A replacement becomes relevant when the Fitbit is an Ionic, lacks NFC, cannot receive the required software or app support, is damaged, or cannot use any card supported in your region. A newer tracker such as the Fitbit Charge 6 preserves the Fitbit-style experience. A full smartwatch such as a Google Pixel Watch may suit users who want broader Google services. Garmin and Apple Watch are alternatives, but they involve different ecosystems and their payment support also depends on country, bank, card, and model.
