1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe Formex AirField Automatic keeps the Field Automatic Gen 2’s reported case dimensions and movement, but gives the 40 mm titanium watch a more aviation-instrument-inspired dial. That makes the AirField look like a distinct take on the Field platform rather than a wholesale redesign; whether the dial alone makes it a separate watch is a matter of perspective.
What changed on the AirField?
Formex describes the dial as inspired by aircraft instruments. Its defining cues include broad sword-shaped hands, recessed numerals, a sloped chapter ring, and a triangle flanked by two dots at 12 o’clock. The seconds hand has an aircraft-shaped counterweight, and Formex says the numerals and markers are individually hand-filled.

Those details give the watch a more overtly instrument-like face than the Field Automatic Gen 2. Michael Peñate of Two Broke Watch Snobs puts the design question this way: “did Formex create a separate watch here, or a particularly convincing version of the Field Automatic?” The article’s preference for the AirField is a visual assessment, not a conclusion based on handling one.

What carries over from the Field Automatic Gen 2?
The AirField is built on the Field collection’s foundation. The launch article reports that its case dimensions and movement carry over from the Field Automatic Gen 2. The result is a new dial treatment on a familiar platform, not a documented redesign of the watch’s underlying dimensions or calibre.
Formex lists these AirField specifications:
| Specification | Formex-listed value |
|---|---|
| Case diameter | 40 mm |
| Case height | 10.6 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 46.6 mm |
| Lug width | 20 mm |
| Case-only weight | 54 g |
| Case material | Hardened titanium |
| Water resistance | 150 m / 15 bar |
| Movement | Sellita SW200-2 Power+ |
| Functions | Hours, minutes, seconds, date |
| Jewels | 26 |
| Frequency | 28,800 A/h (4 Hz) |
| Power reserve | 65 hours |
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements. Formex says the case has a surface hardness of approximately 900 Vickers; that is a company claim, not an independent materials test.

What strap options are available?
Formex lists elastic nylon with a Velcro closure and leather strap configurations. The stated lug width is 20 mm, a useful figure when checking strap fit. Confirm the exact strap included or offered on the product page for the chosen dial and region.
What does the AirField cost, and when does it ship?
On October 13, 2026, Formex’s US Jet Black page displayed a price of US$1,050, while its Tarmac Grey page displayed CHF830. Those are dated regional page prices, not a universal price or a guarantee that another dial, market, or later visit will show the same amount. View the Jet Black product page or view the Tarmac Grey product page for current terms.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is it a new watch or a new dial on the Field?
On the available product information, the most defensible description is a more aviation-inspired version of the Field Automatic: the launch article says the case dimensions and movement carry over from the Gen 2, while the most visible change is the dial’s instrument-style layout and detailing. That may be enough to give the AirField a different character, but it does not establish a separate engineering platform.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The design is the strongest case for choosing it over the Field Automatic. The available information does not establish comparative comfort, finishing quality in person, lume performance, timekeeping accuracy, or real-world water resistance. Peñate likewise says he would want to handle the AirField before judging its execution. Buyers should treat the appeal as a design decision until they can inspect one themselves.
