What is the Forstner Rivet bracelet?
Forstner describes the three-link Rivet as drawing on a mid-twentieth-century Gay Frères bracelet style, whose earlier form used elastic links. That is the manufacturer’s historical framing, rather than an independently established history. The current bracelet is made from brushed 316L stainless steel, with an 18 mm central section, links approximately 2.5 mm thick, and a clasp with micro-adjustment, according to Forstner’s U.S. product listing.
It is an aftermarket bracelet, so suitability depends on the watch’s lug width and the correct end-piece variant. Its vintage look is a design choice; it does not make the bracelet an original period component for a watch.
Solid-link or stretch-link: which should you choose?

These fit ranges are manufacturer guidance, not precise guarantees. Forstner’s UK/EU listing gives different approximate ranges: 5–8 inches for solid and 6.5–8 inches for stretch. Measure your wrist and check the listing for your market and chosen variant before ordering.

Choose solid links for removable sizing and a less elastic feel
The solid version is the better fit for someone who wants a more substantial bracelet and the option to remove links for length adjustment. Its single elastic link near the clasp still gives a little flexibility without making the whole bracelet stretch.
Choose stretch links for an all-elastic bracelet
Every link in the stretch version expands and contracts, so it offers more give along the bracelet and a lighter feel. Forstner also provides clasp adjustment, but this version does not have removable solid links for conventional link-by-link sizing.

Will it fit your watch and wrist?
First check the watch’s lug width: the bracelet’s end-piece width must match it. Then consider wrist circumference and whether you prefer a snug or looser fit. The product range does not establish compatibility with every watch that shares a lug-width measurement; verify the selected end-piece variant against your specific watch.
- Measure the lug width between the watch’s lugs and select the matching end-piece width.
- Measure your wrist where the watch normally sits, then compare it with the fit range on the regional Forstner listing.
- Consider wearing preference. Forstner positions the solid version for a looser feel and the stretch version for a snugger feel, but individual fit varies.
How do you install and size the Rivet?
Forstner says spring bars and screwdrivers are included with the bracelet. Its instructions cover installing the end pieces, removing links from the solid version, and adjusting the clasp; see the official instructions.

- Install the end piece: align it with the watch lugs, compress the spring bars, and release them into the lug holes until they click into place. Confirm both ends are seated securely.
- Protect the bracelet before sizing: Forstner recommends applying tape during link adjustment to reduce the risk of scratches.
- Remove solid links if needed: use the included screwdriver on the screw-and-tube system. Work carefully to keep the parts aligned and avoid slipping across the finish.
- Adjust the clasp: move its small pins from the back side, as Forstner instructs, to help prevent misalignment.
Rob Nudds, reviewing the bracelet for Fratello in 2021, described the setup as initially fiddly-looking but manageable. He also noted the domed screw heads and advised taking care with the screwdriver to avoid slipping and scratching. That is his practical experience, not a guarantee that every adjustment will be effortless.
Is the Forstner Rivet comfortable, and does it snag arm hair?
There is no published quantitative comfort, durability, or snagging test in the cited product and review sources. In his March 9, 2021 Fratello hands-on review, Nudds tried the bracelet on six watches and ultimately paired the solid version with a Seiko SRPE33 Save the Ocean. He was concerned that the close links might catch arm hair, but wrote, “As it turns out, I needn’t have worried.” That describes one reviewer’s experience, not a universal result.

Nudds characterized the design as faithful to its vintage inspiration with more refined modern machining, and favored the solid version’s final elastic link as a compromise for people wary of a fully stretchy bracelet. Those are review judgments, not measured quality or comfort ratings.

Do not confuse the three-link Rivet with Forstner’s separate 5-Link Rivet. That listing describes a different bracelet with alternating polished and brushed finishing, solid links, and end-piece widths from 16 to 20 mm. It may suit a different watch or style preference, but it is not the same construction as the three-link Rivet.
