For a Speedmaster First Omega in Space (FOIS), compare the 19mm bracelets; for a Speedmaster Professional, choose the 20mm end links for the correct case generation. The standard Forstner Flat Link is the stronger fit for someone seeking vintage styling and spring-loaded expansion, while Uncle Straps’ US1035 offers selectable end-link styles and pin-adjusted links. Forstner’s separate Contemporary Flat Link is a third option, with thicker links and a push-button clasp. All are aftermarket bracelets, not Omega-made or Omega-endorsed products.
Start with your Speedmaster reference and case generation
Do not order by “Speedmaster” or lug width alone. The end links—the pieces that meet the watch case—must match the specific case. Forstner distinguishes 19mm FOIS end links from two 20mm Professional versions; Uncle Straps lists separate FOIS and Professional US1035 bracelets.

Forstner also lists 3861-era fit for the blue Snoopy and Apollo 11 50th Anniversary editions. The maker notes that some other fit matches have been reported but may not be as precise. Uncle Straps likewise cautions that customer-submitted fit matches and special-edition compatibility may not be exact. Confirm the reference, caliber generation, lug width, and selected end-link style before purchase. What the current bracelets are like
Forstner standard Flat Link
The standard version uses solid 316L stainless steel, solid end pieces, screw-removable links, and spring-loaded stretch links behind a pressure clasp. It tapers from 20mm to 16mm at the clasp. Finishes are polished outer links with brushed inner links, or fully brushed. Forstner gives an adjustment range of 120–180mm, approximately 6–8-inch wrists. Those dimensions describe the standard listing; check its current fit guidance and sizing before ordering.

End links are sold unattached to the bracelet, so the bracelet can be used with different end-link sizes. That modular arrangement is useful if you own more than one compatible Speedmaster, but each watch still needs the appropriate end links.
Uncle Straps US1035
The current FOIS listing describes solid 316L stainless-steel links, pin adjustment, a stamped pressure clasp, and a 19mm-to-16mm taper. It lists a 180mm length, a 120mm minimum after adjustment, and a weight of 56 grams. Buyers can select all-brushed or brushed-and-polished finish, and standard or solid curved end links; the listing includes end links and 1.8mm spring bars.

The 20mm Professional listing gives the same general steel, clasp, adjustment, taper, length, and weight specifications, with 1861 or 3861 choices and selectable finish and end-link options. Its fit is listed for the Speedmaster Professional. These specifications describe the current listings, not necessarily every bracelet previously sold as Uncle Seiko.
Forstner Contemporary Flat Link
This is a distinct Forstner design, not simply another name for the standard bracelet. Forstner describes the Contemporary links as thicker and longer: on the 20mm version, approximately 3mm thick and 6.5mm long, versus about 2.5mm thick and 5mm long on the original-style version. It uses a milled push-button clasp and single-screw link system. The maker says the 20mm Contemporary has no spring links; its 19mm FOIS version is described as having them. Check the listing for the exact watch fit and version.

Comfort, articulation, and clasp: what one hands-on comparison found
In a November 2020 comparison of 19mm FOIS bracelets, Fratello’s Ben Hodges preferred the Forstner for comfort, pointing to its spring-loaded links and solid end pieces. He wrote: “Those expanding links and solid ends just gave it all-day, everyday wearability that the Uncle Seiko could not compete with.” He also observed that adjacent Forstner links could fold over and stick when the bracelet was off the wrist.
Hodges described the Uncle Seiko bracelet he handled as heavier-feeling and more freely articulated, but noted a noticeable transition at its hollow end links. His observations concern those particular 2020 examples. They should not be treated as a universal comparison of every current variant: Uncle Straps’ present US1035 listings describe solid links, while the older review discussed construction and adjustment details of its sample.

Installation, sizing, and maintenance
Forstner
Because the end links arrive unattached, installation involves fitting the chosen end link to the bracelet with a spring bar, then attaching the assembled bracelet to the watch. Forstner’s fitting instructions explain the sequence. Screw-removable links make sizing a screw-based job; use a correctly fitting tool to avoid damaging the fasteners.
Uncle Straps
The US1035 uses pin adjustment. Uncle Straps warns that the opening can be narrow and recommends working from the underside with an appropriate spring-bar tool. Take care not to scratch the case or lose the spring bar; if you are unsure, ask a watchmaker to install it.

Uncle Straps’ listings showed $99 for the FOIS bracelet and $129 for the 20mm Professional bracelet in the page data available for this article; check the live listing for the price and selected configuration. Forstner’s current standard listing did not state a price in the available page information, so compare its live checkout price directly. Fratello’s November 2020 article quoted $150 for Forstner and $89 for Uncle Seiko; those are historical prices, not current quotes.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the standard Forstner if your exact case is covered and you want the vintage-style bracelet with spring-loaded expansion and screw sizing.
- Choose the Uncle Straps US1035 if its exact FOIS or Professional configuration fits your watch and you value selectable end-link styles and pin adjustment.
- Compare the Forstner Contemporary separately if thicker links and a milled push-button clasp matter more to you than the standard bracelet’s construction.
The 2020 review gives a useful account of how two FOIS samples felt on one reviewer’s wrist, not a universal winner. Case fit is the first decision; clasp, adjustment, finish, and how much articulation you prefer should make the final one.
