Fratello has kicked off its 2025 Dress Watch Season, a reader-vote contest asking which of 34 curated nominees best represents modern elegance. Readers choose their favorites in the opening round; the eight watches with the most votes advance to head-to-head matchups championed by Fratello writers, with readers ultimately selecting the champion.
How Fratello’s Dress Watch Season works
In its article published October 24, 2025, Fratello describes a two-stage competition. First, readers vote among 34 watches launched in 2025. The eight most-voted models move forward, after which Fratello writers champion finalists in head-to-head matchups until a reader-selected champion remains. These are the rules of Fratello’s contest, not an industry ranking or a poll of every watch released in 2025. Fratello says its selection is curated rather than exhaustive. What counts as a dress watch here?
Fratello uses “dress watch” as a broad design idea, not a strict technical category. The traditional image is a slim case, a minimal dial, and a discreet presence. Contemporary watches may depart from that formula with unusual materials, complications, or layouts. Fratello’s connecting theme is refinement and wearability, for formal occasions or simply for people who prefer understated design.
As Fratello put it in the October 24, 2025 article: “What unites them all is a focus on refinement and wearability, qualities that make these pieces suitable for formal occasions or simply for those who appreciate understated design.”
