The TUDOR Pelagos FXD GMT and Rolex Explorer II 226570 both measure 42 mm and display a second time zone, but they handle time-setting differently. Choose the TUDOR if a rotating 24-hour bezel and titanium case are the draw; choose the Rolex if you want to change local time with an independently rapid-setting hour hand. Those are feature-based distinctions, not a verdict on comfort or performance.

How the GMT controls differ
Pelagos FXD GMT: rotate the bezel to change the reference
The TUDOR combines a 24-hour hand with a bidirectional 24-hour bezel. Its 2024 launch material calls the orange hand “Zulu time” and describes a jumping local-hour hand. In practical terms, the hand provides a 24-hour reference, while rotating the bezel changes the reference against which that hand is read. This gives the wearer a movable control for tracking a different time-zone offset.
TUDOR describes the MT5652-U as an adaptation of its movement architecture to add GMT indication rather than an additional module. That is the manufacturer’s account of the design, not an independent assessment.

Explorer II: move local time in one-hour jumps
The Rolex uses a fixed 24-hour bezel. Its independently rapid-setting hour hand lets the wearer adjust local time without stopping the movement, while the 24-hour indication remains available as a second-time-zone reference. Rolex says the fixed-bezel display helps distinguish daytime hours from nighttime hours.
For frequent travel across time zones, the Rolex control layout may be appealing because the local hour hand can be changed independently. If you prefer a bezel you can rotate to alter the time-zone reference, the TUDOR offers that option. Neither arrangement is universally better; the distinction is how you want to interact with the watch.

Case, strap, and fit
Both watches have a 42 mm case, but matching diameter does not establish that they wear alike. TUDOR lists a 12.7 mm thickness and 22 mm lug width; the reviewed Rolex page information does not provide comparable thickness or lug-to-lug dimensions. No weight or wrist-fit measurements are established here, so a try-on is the sound way to judge fit.
The Pelagos FXD GMT pairs titanium with a one-piece fabric strap and fixed strap bars. The Explorer II pairs Oystersteel with an Oyster bracelet, Oysterlock clasp, and Easylink extension. Material and attachment style are meaningful differences, but without comparative weight or wear testing they do not support a claim that one is more comfortable.

Water resistance and movement claims
TUDOR rates the Pelagos FXD GMT to 200 m (660 ft), while Rolex rates the Explorer II to 100 m (330 ft). These are the respective manufacturers’ ratings; they should not be read as independent evaluations or as a complete guide to suitability for a particular activity.
TUDOR lists calibre MT5652-U with COSC and METAS certification and a 65-hour power reserve. Rolex lists calibre 3285 with Superlative Chronometer certification and approximately 70 hours of reserve. Rolex states an after-casing precision of −2/+2 seconds per day; TUDOR’s product information summarizes METAS criteria that include precision testing and magnetic-field exposure to 15,000 gauss. The certification labels describe different manufacturer-stated standards, so they do not amount to a direct comparative accuracy or durability result.

Price and where to buy
Rolex’s US product page displays $10,600 USD for the Explorer II 226570. That is a regional official-page price, not a universal quote across countries, taxes, dealers, or transactions. No current TUDOR price is established in the cited product-page information, so a reliable price gap cannot be stated.
