Fratello readers chose the white-dial Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional as their favorite watch of 2024. In Fratello’s poll of 18 nominated watches, it received 26% of the votes and also won the Sports & Tool category. That is the result of this particular readers’ poll—not a ranking of every watch released in 2024.
What Fratello’s Readers’ Choice poll found
Fratello’s year-end poll presented 18 nominees across six categories and asked readers to choose a favorite. In its January 2, 2025 recap, Fratello named the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional with a white dial the overall winner and the Sports & Tool category winner. The recap reports vote shares, but not the total number of ballots.

Which white-dial Speedmaster won?
The winner is the white-dial version of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, introduced in March 2024. Fratello’s hands-on review describes it as a regular-production model, not a limited edition. The review lists three configurations:

Why Omega made the dial white
Omega says the design takes its black-and-white palette from astronaut spacesuits, particularly suits used for extravehicular activity such as spacewalks. The red Speedmaster lettering, according to the manufacturer, refers to red details on Apollo-era suits and the protective red case around Omega’s ALASKA I prototype. These are Omega’s stated design inspirations.

Fratello also places the watch within a longer history of white-dial Speedmasters, citing the 2015 Silver Snoopy Award, the 2008 Alaska Project and the 1997 Italian-market “Albino.” Those earlier examples provide context; they do not make the 2024 white-dial Moonwatch a special or limited edition.

White dial vs. black dial: what changes for a buyer?
The main choice is visual preference and configuration, rather than a demonstrated technical advantage. Fratello’s March 2024 comparison describes the white dial as brighter and more striking, highlighting its lacquered, stepped surface. The black-dial advocate objects to the glossy finish and points out that the white version is available only with a sapphire crystal in the review’s account. Those are the writers’ opinions, not test results or universal buying advice. Fratello’s white-versus-black comparison.
- Appearance: The white model combines a lacquered white dial with black details and red lettering; the familiar alternative is the black-dial Moonwatch.
- Crystal: Fratello’s 2024 review says the white-dial version came with a sapphire crystal. If crystal type is decisive, verify the current model configuration before buying.
- Straps: The review lists bracelet, rubber and leather configurations. Check the exact reference when comparing a watch or confirming fit for a third-party strap.

The review describes a varnished and lacquered white dial with a step, polished black hands and markers, luminous material, and recessed subdials with circular graining. How to decide whether it suits you
- Choose the dial by preference. Compare the lacquered white dial’s contrast and brighter presence with the black dial in person if possible; Fratello’s color comparison is an editorial opinion, not a universal verdict.
- Check fit using the listed measurements. The 2024 review’s 42 mm diameter, 47.5 mm lug-to-lug length and 13.18 mm thickness are useful starting points, but wrist fit is personal.
- Pick the exact strap configuration. Use the reference number to distinguish the bracelet, rubber and leather versions, and confirm current availability with Omega or an authorized dealer.
