Fratello writer Nacho Conde Garzón’s watch list brings together four pre-owned and vintage targets: a white-dial Rolex Explorer II 16570, a 1960s Breitling Navitimer 806, an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 2504.50.00, and a white-gold Cartier Tank Américaine 1741. It is a personal shortlist, not a ranking or head-to-head test—and its euro price observations date to November 25, 2024.
Four watches, four different reasons to keep looking
In his November 25, 2024 Fratello feature, Nacho describes the familiar collector habit of scrolling listings for a watch that is either very specific or deliberately open-ended. His picks range from sporty, tool-oriented designs to a dressier precious-metal Cartier. The common thread is patience: these are watches he wants to find under the right conditions, not recommendations that every buyer should choose.
Rolex Explorer II 16570 “Polar”
The lead choice is the five-digit Explorer II 16570 with a white dial, often nicknamed the “Polar.” Nacho is drawn to its balanced, purposeful tool-watch look. Fratello’s November 2024 article put a good-condition example at around €7,500, with some examples around €6,300 if the buyer was willing to forgo a full set. Those are publication-era observations, not current asking prices.
A separate, narrower snapshot offers a later point of reference: RLXCPO reported 37 U.S. authorized-dealer Rolex Certified Pre-Owned listings for the 16570 on October 5, 2026. Their asking prices ranged from $10,500 to $18,000, with a median of $11,450. This describes the listings tracked on that page, not the model’s global value, completed sale prices, or a direct update to Fratello’s euro figures. RLXCPO’s Explorer II 16570 listing snapshot.

Breitling Navitimer 806
Nacho’s Navitimer target is a later-1960s 806 with a panda dial and twin-jet logo. The 41mm watch pairs a slide-rule bezel with high-contrast timekeeping and chronograph displays, giving it a busier, more instrument-like character than the Aqua Terra.

Fratello’s November 2024 price observation was around €5,000–€7,000 for these panda-dial examples. The all-black-dial version that first caught Nacho’s attention was then described at around €10,000–€15,000. Both ranges are historical context from the article, not current valuations; no comparable later market figure is established here.
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 2504.50.00
The 36mm black-dial Aqua Terra is Nacho’s understated alternative to a Rolex Explorer 114270. Its date at 3 o’clock, mostly brushed bracelet, and Co-Axial movement make it a quieter everyday option than the chronograph-focused Navitimer.

Fratello cited a €3,795 listing and a broader range of roughly €2,700–€4,000 in November 2024. For a separate U.S.-dollar reference, WatchCharts estimated the discontinued 2504.50 at $3,273 on October 5, 2026. That is a model-level estimate, not an offer or guaranteed sale price. The same WatchCharts page lists $3,350 as the authorized-dealer retail price as of February 2023. These figures use different dates, currencies, and measures, so they should not be treated as directly comparable. WatchCharts estimate for Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 2504.50.
Fratello also mentions the quartz ref. 2518.50.00 as a less expensive counterpart, described at the time as costing less than €2,000. That is a November 2024 observation; no current price figure for the quartz reference is established here.

Cartier Tank Américaine 1741
The Tank Américaine 1741 is the list’s dressier departure. Nacho’s chosen version is automatic, made in 18K white gold, and has a date at 6 o’clock plus a guilloché pattern in the center of the dial. Fratello reported pre-owned examples around €6,500–€7,000 in November 2024 and compared that with the then-current price it cited for a stainless-steel Tank Américaine. Neither comparison should be read as a present-day price: the article’s observation is dated, and no comparable later figure is established here.
How to choose among the four
There is no universal winner in a list built around personal taste. The useful question is which design and ownership trade-offs fit your priorities.

For an actual purchase, compare like with like: exact reference, condition, originality, service records, included accessories, seller terms, and the basis of the quoted price. A complete set can affect the asking price, as Fratello’s 16570 observation illustrates. Authentication, servicing, guarantees, and return policies vary by seller; do not assume the protections of Rolex’s CPO program apply to watches bought elsewhere or from another brand.
Why the wait is part of Nacho’s list
These picks reflect a collector’s willingness to wait for a suitable example rather than buy the first watch that matches a reference number. As Nacho Conde Garzón put it in the November 25, 2024 Fratello article: “These are the watches that I’m patiently taking aim at while biding my time, holding my breath, and waiting for all factors to align before pulling the trigger.” The phrase captures the list’s central idea: a watch’s appeal is only one part of the decision; condition, completeness, price, and confidence in the seller have to line up too.
