Fratello’s five favorite Breguet watches in its April 25, 2025 feature are the Classique Répétition Minute 7637, Tradition 7057, Type XX Chronographe 2067, Classique 5157 and Marine Alarme Musicale 5547. Together they showcase very different sides of the brand: a minute repeater, an exposed-mechanism manual watch, a pilot chronograph, a slim dress watch and a watch with an alarm complication. The list is an editorial selection for Breguet’s 250th anniversary year—not a sales ranking or a confirmed list of models available new today.
What Fratello’s list does—and does not—tell you
Jorg Weppelink’s feature, published April 25, 2025, deliberately spreads its five choices across Breguet’s collections rather than concentrating on Classique. Its “top” picks reflect the author’s preferences, combining specifications with personal impressions of design and wear. They are not the result of a market survey.
“Current” needs a date qualification. Breguet’s official watch finder shows the Tradition, Marine, Type XX and Classique collection families, but collection-level filters do not establish that every exact reference below remains available new in 2026. The specifications that follow are those reported in Fratello’s article; they should not be read as a current inventory or price list.

|---|---|---|---|
| Classique Répétition Minute 7637 | Classique; complication-led choice | Rose-gold version: 42 mm diameter, 12.35 mm thick, 49 mm lug-to-lug. | Tradition 7057 | Tradition; movement on display | 40 mm; four versions across rose and white gold. The featured white-gold version has a silvered guilloché dial and power-reserve display. | Manual caliber 507 DR1. |

The measurements and movement details in the table are reported by Fratello. The article does not supply a complete, directly comparable specification set for all five references.

The 7637 is the list’s most complication-focused pick. Fratello describes versions pairing white gold with a blue dial and rose gold with a black grand feu enamel dial. For the rose-gold version, the reported case measures 42 mm across, 12.35 mm thick and 49 mm lug-to-lug—dimensions worth considering if you want a chiming watch but prefer a compact case.
Its manual caliber 567/2 is reported as having 358 parts, running at 18,000 vibrations per hour (vph) and offering a 40-hour power reserve. A lever on the side of the case activates the minute repeater, which sounds the hours, quarters and minutes. That makes the 7637 less about reading time at a glance and more about a traditional mechanical complication you can activate when needed.
2. Tradition 7057: a view of the mechanism
Fratello connects the Tradition line’s exposed-mechanism approach to Breguet’s earlier subscription watches. As Weppelink puts it, “The Tradition line debuted in 2005 and took inspiration from Breguet’s subscription watches from the late 18th century.” That is the article author’s account of the line’s inspiration.
The 7057 is described with a 40 mm case and four versions spanning rose and white gold. The selected white-gold version pairs a silvered guilloché dial with a power-reserve display, while the visible movement architecture gives the watch a very different character from the comparatively restrained Classique 5157.
Rank #3
- 2nd time-zone sub-dial located at the 6 o'clock position
- AM/PM sub-dial indicator located at the 3 o'clock position
- Polished 18kt rose gold case
- Hand engraved (engine-turned) guilloche black dial
Fratello identifies its hand-wound caliber as the 507 DR1: 224 parts, 21,600 vph and a 50-hour power reserve. Choose this model if the mechanical layout is part of the appeal; choose a conventional dial-first watch if you would rather keep the movement out of view.
3. Type XX Chronographe 2067: the aviation-inspired chronograph
The Type XX 2067 brings a steel sports-watch option to a list otherwise heavy on precious-metal dress and complication pieces. Fratello describes a 42 mm steel case, black dial and automatic caliber 7821. The movement is reported at 36,000 vph with a 60-hour power reserve.
The feature also notes two points of debate in the dial design: the date window and numerals clipped by the subdials. Weppelink says the date seemed less obtrusive on the wrist than it did in photographs; that is his wearing impression, not an independent test. If dial symmetry is a priority, inspect the layout closely rather than relying only on a product image.

At 38 mm wide and 5.5 mm thick, the 5157 is the most explicitly slim, restrained choice in the group. Fratello describes rose- and white-gold versions with a silvered gold dial, hand-guilloché hobnail center and Roman numerals. Its appearance relies on finishing and proportion rather than a prominent complication or exposed mechanism.

Compared with the hand-wound 7057, the 5157 offers automatic winding and a quieter dial; its thin case is the defining practical distinction in this selection.
5. Marine Alarme Musicale 5547: an alarm in the sportier Marine family
The 5547 is the sportier, alarm-equipped pick. Fratello describes it in titanium, white gold and rose gold, with Weppelink favoring a rose-gold bracelet version. His praise for the bracelet’s feel is a personal assessment, not a standardized comparison.
The feature also broadens its final choice to the Marine family, mentioning the 5517 and 5527 alongside the 5547. It describes wave-pattern guilloché dials and differing complications across those models. That family context is useful if you like the Marine styling but do not need an alarm; the article does not give a full specification comparison among the three references.
How to choose among the five
- For a distinctive mechanical complication: the 7637 chimes hours, quarters and minutes on demand.
- For an exposed movement and hand-wound routine: the 7057 puts its mechanism at the center of the design.
- For a steel chronograph: the 2067 is the aviation-inspired option, with a date and dial details that may divide opinion.
- For a slim, traditional dress watch: the 5157 combines a 38 mm case with a reported 5.5 mm thickness.
- For a sportier look with an alarm: the 5547 is the list’s Marine choice; the 5517 and 5527 are also mentioned as family alternatives, though without a full comparison.
