On November 21, 2025, Fratello’s Jorg Weppelink published a year-end roundup of five watches that had caught his eye in the closing weeks of the year. The picks are a small sample of recent releases, not a ranking and not a survey of everything launched in 2025. The five are the Grand Seiko U.F.A. SLGB005, the Lebois & Co Heritage Chronograph Atelier “Coquille d’œuf,” the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Extreme GMT, the NOMOS Club Sport Neomatik Worldtimer for Mansour, and the Zenith Chronomaster Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition.
This guide explains what each watch is, how the five compare on the numbers the article reports, and how to read those prices and edition sizes without over-reading them.
What the Fratello list is, and what it is not
The article opens with the line “Another Friday, another list!” and closes by describing the five as “recently released watches that caught our eyes.” That framing matters. The selection is subjective, and the article uses no formal scoring method, so the order of appearance should not be read as a ranking. The picks also span very different price points, currencies, and kinds of watch, from a Spring Drive dress-leaning sports piece to a manual chronograph, a GMT travel watch, a world-timer, and a pop-culture limited edition. Treat the list as a snapshot of what one editor found compelling at the end of 2025.
The five watches
Grand Seiko U.F.A. SLGB005
The purple-dial SLGB005 is the Evolution 9 model in Grand Seiko’s Ever-Brilliant Steel, and it houses the U.F.A. 9RB2 Spring Drive movement. The article’s headline technical claim is the movement’s accuracy of ±20 seconds per year, which it reports as Grand Seiko’s specification. The 9RB2 is also the reason the watch is included: the article presents it as a rare combination of a high-performance mechanical-electronic movement with an unusually long reserve. This is the only pick in the roundup that is a limited edition aimed squarely at collectors of the brand’s Spring Drive line.
#1 Best Overall
- Silver-Tone Classic: White dial pairs with an adjustable black leather strap for a timeless, easy-to-read look every day
- Adjustable Strap: A comfortable band with a secure closure fits wrists up to 8 inches for a personalized, everyday feel every time
- Indiglo Backlight: A quick push of the button illuminates the dial in the dark, whenever it's needed most, day after day
- Effortless Style: Date window at 3 o'clock, full Arabic numerals, and a mineral glass crystal keep the dial simple and easy to read
- Built to Last: A Timex watch is designed for durability and everyday reliability; every piece reflects our commitment to quality without compromise
Lebois & Co Heritage Chronograph Atelier “Coquille d’œuf”
According to the article, this manual-winding chronograph is the first model in a new Heritage Chronograph generation focused on Métiers d’Art, the craft-driven side of watchmaking. Its defining feature is the warm eggshell-tone Grand Feu enamel dial. The dial is built from three separately prepared and separately fired parts, including two recessed subdials. That construction is the reason the watch is output-limited: the article reports only 25 watches a year, which is a production rate rather than a numbered edition. Buyers of enamel dials should note that the article presents this dial as the headline craft element, not as a movement innovation.
Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Extreme GMT
Fratello describes this as an adventure-oriented version of the C63 Sealander GMT. The case is brushed steel with a black ceramic bezel, and the dial comes in green or black with Globolight luminous indexes. The article lists two strap-or-bracelet options, plus an orange V-Strap as an additional styling choice, so buyers choosing a bracelet should check the exact configuration and its price at the time of purchase. Among the five watches, this is the only one with a price the article states on a strap, and it is the lowest listed price in the roundup, though the article’s currency is euros while the Zenith’s is Swiss francs.

NOMOS Club Sport Neomatik Worldtimer for Mansour
This special edition was created with Mansour Jewellers, which the article describes as a UAE multi-store retailer. Its purple sunburst dial and off-white city ring show Abu Dhabi in Arabic at UTC+4, which is the reason the piece is tied to the region. The movement is NOMOS’s in-house DUW 3202 automatic. The article gives no price for this watch, so it is the one entry in the roundup where cost cannot be compared at all.
Zenith Chronomaster Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition
The article connects this edition to the animated character Daisuke Jigen from Lupin the Third and describes it as a revival of Zenith’s watch series inspired by that franchise. The case is microblasted titanium with a matte black finish and pairs with a titanium ladder-style bracelet. The beige dial carries black subdials and beige Super-LumiNova on ruthenium-plated indexes. The movement is the El Primero 400, which the article identifies as a high-beat column-wheel chronograph. It is the second of the two explicitly limited editions in the roundup, and it is the only pick whose subject is a fictional character.

How to read the prices and edition sizes
- The prices are article-time figures. They reflect what Fratello reported in November 2025. They are not current quotes, and they may have changed. Confirm with the brand or an authorized retailer before deciding.
- The currencies differ. Three prices are in euros and one is in Swiss francs, and one entry has no price. The table does not convert them, and a euro figure and a franc figure should not be compared as if they were a same-date, same-currency survey.
- Edition sizes are not the same kind of number. The Grand Seiko, NOMOS, and Zenith figures are numbered limited-edition counts. The Lebois & Co figure is an annual output rate, which describes how many the maker produces in a year rather than a fixed run.
- Accuracy and reserve figures are manufacturer specifications as passed on by the article. Fratello does not test them, and this guide does not either. The ±20 seconds per year accuracy and the power reserve values are the figures the article reports.
Choosing among the five
The five picks serve different buying motives, so the most useful question is which one matches your priorities.
Rank #4
- STYLE: A classic, easy-to-read timepiece for everyday wear; 42mm case; band length 9.5 inches
- MATERIAL: Black faux leather strap with genuine leather backing for comfortable wear; buckle closure; mineral crystal lens
- DETAILS: Matte black dial with silver tone luminous hands and easy to read white Arabic numerals; printed outer minute track; date calendar window at 3 o'clock
- CARE: Water resistant to 100 Feet (30m); watches should be treated like jewelry; to best protect your watch, be sure to be conscious when spraying perfume, hair spray, etc.; a jewelry polishing cloth can be used to polish the watch and clean it of fingerprints
- If accuracy is the deciding spec, the Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive claim is the only one of the five the article presents as its headline technical argument.
- If you value hand-finished dials and small-batch output, the Lebois & Co is the pick built around that craft, at a stated rate of 25 per year.
- If you want a GMT at the lowest listed price, the Christopher Ward is the entry point, with the caution that its price in the article applies to the strap version and the bracelet costs more.
- If you need a world-time watch tied to a region, the NOMOS is the one designed around Abu Dhabi, but it is also the one without a stated price in the article.
- If the subject matters more than the movement, the Zenith is built around a franchise and its 200-piece run, with a stated price in Swiss francs.
Because the article does not score the watches, the decision is yours to make on fit and budget rather than on a ranking.
