If the 2025 Rolex Land-Dweller’s integrated-bracelet look appeals but the watch itself is not the right fit, Fratello’s five alternatives offer different ways into that design territory: three vintage Rolexes, a vintage Omega and a current Tissot. They are alternatives in style, heritage or price—not equivalent watches in movement, materials, availability or specification.
What makes these watches Land-Dweller alternatives?
The Land-Dweller launched in 2025 in 36mm and 40mm sizes. Rolex describes its bracelet as an integrated Flat Jubilee and equips it with calibre 7135, which Rolex rates at 5 Hz (36,000 beats per hour) and approximately 66 hours of power reserve with the Dynapulse escapement. Rolex’s Land-Dweller collection page and 2025 launch material provide the official details.
Fratello’s picks connect to the watch through some combination of angular cases, integrated bracelets and 1970s design cues. They span very different ownership propositions: vintage mechanical and quartz watches that require careful condition and reference checks, plus a modern automatic Tissot available through current retail channels. The vintage prices below are Fratello’s indicative estimates published in October 2025, not live quotes or current appraisals.

1. Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date ref. 1530
Fratello dates production of the reference 1530 to 1975–1977 and describes a 36mm angular case, integrated bracelet, sapphire crystal and automatic calibre 1570. The article reports a frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour and a 48-hour power reserve. It also suggests the 1530 may have inspired the Land-Dweller; that is Fratello’s interpretation, not a confirmed Rolex account.
At Fratello’s October 2025 indicative range of roughly €15,000–€30,000, this is a costly vintage route to the angular integrated-bracelet look. Check the specific watch’s condition, originality and service history rather than assuming two examples in the same reference are interchangeable.
2. Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust ref. 17014
The 17014 combines a 36mm stainless-steel case with a white-gold fluted bezel and a five-row steel bracelet. Fratello places the broader Oysterquartz production run between 1977 and 2004 and says steel models left the catalog in 2002.

Fratello’s October 2025 estimate is about €6,000–€12,000 for a complete set in excellent condition. Pay particular attention to the bracelet: the article notes that its condition affects both comfort and appearance. A worn bracelet can matter as much to the ownership experience as the case or dial.

For a more overtly precious-metal version of the angular Oysterquartz design, Fratello selects the yellow-gold 36mm Day-Date ref. 19018, with a President-style bracelet and calibre 5055. The article says yellow- and white-gold Oysterquartz Day-Date models remained in production from 1977 to 2002.
Fratello’s October 2025 estimate for yellow-gold ref. 19018 examples is roughly €13,000–€30,000, with exotic variants potentially higher. For comparison, its estimate for white-gold ref. 19019 examples is about €20,000–€40,000. These are dated editorial ranges; the precious metal, variant and condition make a direct price comparison with the steel watches especially misleading.

4. Omega Seamaster Cosmic
Fratello describes a mid-1970s Seamaster Cosmic with a 36mm angular case, integrated bracelet and automatic calibre 1012. The article reports 28,800 vibrations per hour, 23 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve, and notes gray or blue vignette dials. Its October 2025 estimate runs from about €1,500 to €4,000–€5,000 for excellent examples, depending on condition.
There is an important identification wrinkle: the Fratello section heading gives reference 166.0195, while its body gives 166.1095; a later price link uses 166.0195. Do not treat those numbers as resolved or rely on a listing title alone. Verify the exact reference against the watch and its documentation with a knowledgeable specialist before buying.

The PRX Powermatic 80 is the modern, lower-cost option in Fratello’s list. The article names 35mm and 40mm sizes and describes an automatic movement beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, with 23 jewels and an 80-hour power reserve. Fratello author Jorg Weppelink calls it “an awesome and affordable alternative to the Rolex Land-Dweller”; that is his opinion about its role in the comparison, not a claim that it matches the Rolex’s movement or standing.

Tissot’s US page for the 40mm automatic model T137.407.11.351.00 lists an 80-hour reserve and a $775 price. Those figures apply to that specific US-listed variant, not every PRX or every market. For this model, Tissot also lists a 316L stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, 100m water resistance, date, quick-release bracelet and a two-year warranty. See the Tissot US product page for the variant’s specifications and current listing.
How to choose among them
Choose by the kind of alternative you want
- Closest vintage design connection: the 1530 and Omega Cosmic both pair an angular 36mm case with an integrated bracelet, though their movements, brands and price levels differ.
- Quartz in an angular Rolex case: consider the Oysterquartz Datejust 17014 for steel or the Day-Date 19018 for yellow gold. Their quartz movements distinguish them from the automatic 1530 and Cosmic.
- Modern retail availability and a lower listed price: the PRX Powermatic 80 is the current-collection choice in this group. Compare the exact size and variant rather than applying one listing’s price or specifications to the entire range.
Fit and vintage checks
Four of Fratello’s vintage selections are described as 36mm; the PRX is named in 35mm and 40mm sizes. Case diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears, so try the watch on if possible and assess how the bracelet sits on your wrist.
For any vintage candidate, inspect bracelet condition, originality and service documentation, and confirm the reference on the actual watch. Those checks are particularly important for the 17014’s bracelet and the Cosmic’s inconsistent reference number in Fratello’s article. A vintage movement’s servicing and performance should be assessed for the individual watch; the cited specifications alone do not establish its present accuracy or service needs.
