Fratello’s November 14, 2025 list picks five Tudor watches: two GMTs and three dive-style models. It is author Jorg Weppelink’s selection, not a ranked test or a guarantee that every model is in stock today. The right choice depends chiefly on whether you want a GMT, a diver, or a particular case size and style.
What Fratello’s list covers—and what “currently available” means
Weppelink’s five choices are the Pelagos FXD GMT “Zulu Time,” Black Bay Master Chronometer “Monochrome,” Black Bay Pro, Pelagos Ultra, and Black Bay 54. The phrase “currently available” reflects the article’s November 2025 publication date; it does not establish 2026 catalogue status or local stock. The euro prices below are likewise the amounts reported in that article, not verified current prices.
Fratello’s list is best read as five distinct options rather than a universal ranking. The FXD GMT and Black Bay Pro add GMT functionality; the other three are dive-style watches. The Black Bay family also gives the list a vintage-inspired counterpoint to the more overtly tool-oriented Pelagos models.

Which of the five fits your priorities?
For GMT travel: Pelagos FXD GMT or Black Bay Pro
The Pelagos FXD GMT “Zulu Time” is the more overtly military-inspired option. Fratello reports a Grade 2 titanium case, fixed strap bars, and a 48-click titanium bezel with a ceramic GMT insert. Its fixed bars make strap choice part of the fit: the supplied fabric strap is central to how the watch wears, rather than a conventional bracelet-swapping setup.
The Black Bay Pro pairs GMT functionality with a 39mm case, but its reported 14.7mm thickness is substantial for that diameter. Weppelink says its design recalls the first-generation Rolex Explorer II and notes that wearing it changed his initial view of the watch. That is a personal impression, not a prediction of how it will sit on another wrist; thickness and slab-like flanks are worth checking in person.
Rank #2
- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
For a modern diver: Black Bay Monochrome or Pelagos Ultra
The Black Bay Master Chronometer “Monochrome” favors a cleaner, more contemporary look with fewer vintage cues. Fratello reports options with an Oyster-style bracelet, Jubilee-style bracelet, or rubber strap; Weppelink prefers the Oyster-style bracelet. At 41mm with a reported 50mm lug-to-lug and 13.6mm thickness, it is not a small watch, so compare those dimensions with your wrist and bracelet preferences.
The Pelagos Ultra is the list’s largest case at 43mm and carries the highest reported depth rating, 1,000m. Fratello also notes its helium escape valve, titanium bracelet, and spring-loaded adjustable clasp. Those specifications distinguish it on paper, but a depth rating alone does not establish suitability for a particular dive; follow Tudor’s guidance and use appropriate equipment and training.
Rank #3

For smaller proportions: Black Bay 54
At 37mm diameter, 46mm lug-to-lug, and 11.3mm thick including its domed crystal, the Black Bay 54 is the smallest of the five by the dimensions Fratello reports. It also has the lowest article-date price, €4,120. Its black aluminum bezel insert and vintage-inspired dial details suit readers who want a more compact, traditionally styled diver rather than the larger modern Pelagos Ultra or Monochrome.
How to choose—and what to verify before buying
- Choose by function first: consider the FXD GMT or Black Bay Pro if you want a GMT; look to the Monochrome, Pelagos Ultra, or Black Bay 54 for dive-watch styling.
- Compare dimensions beyond diameter: lug-to-lug length and thickness affect how a watch sits. The Pro’s reported thickness is notable; the Black Bay 54 is the most compact on the listed measurements.
- Match material and style to preference: the Pelagos models use titanium, while the Black Bay choices in this list are steel. The FXD leans military/tool, the Monochrome modern and restrained, and the 54 vintage-inspired.
- Check the exact configuration: confirm reference, dial, bracelet or strap, and whether the seller has the version you want. For FXD GMT strap questions, verify compatibility rather than assuming standard spring-bar fit.
- Refresh local price and availability: the figures here are euros from November 2025. Check Tudor or an authorized local retailer for current regional pricing and stock; no current stock status for the full set is established here.
Why these five are a selection, not a definitive Tudor top five
Weppelink calls the Pelagos Ultra his favorite 2025 Tudor release, but that preference is not a score or market ranking. Reader comments on the article also mention alternatives such as the Ranger, Pelagos 39, Black Bay Ceramic, and Black Bay 58 GMT. Those comments show that a different shortlist is possible; they do not establish how popular those models are overall.
