The solid-dial Formex Essence Ceramica Automatic COSC 41mm is a technical luxury sports watch built around a zirconium-oxide ceramic case and bracelet, a COSC-certified Soprod movement, and Formex’s suspended-case design. It combines substantial engineering with practical details such as on-wrist clasp adjustment; whether its sharply technical styling appeals is more subjective.
What is the solid-dial Essence Ceramica?
This is the 41mm solid-dial Essence Ceramica Automatic COSC, not the earlier skeleton-dial Ceramica. In its September 2025 hands-on review, Fratello identified four dial options and references:

How does it wear?
Formex lists a 41mm diameter, 46.2mm lug-to-lug length, and 11.2mm thickness. Its stated water resistance is 10 bar (100m). Those dimensions give a useful starting point for judging fit, but wrist shape and personal preference matter as much as diameter.
Fratello reviewer Thomas Van Straaten reported that the 46.2mm lug-to-lug span and 11.2mm thickness sat neatly on his 18cm wrist, and that the suspended case felt comfortable. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a fit guarantee for other wrists. Fratello’s hands-on account also praised the finishing, while the reviewer found the design too technical for his own taste.

What is the case suspension, and what is it made from?
Formex specifies zirconium-oxide ceramic for the case and bezel, alongside a solid-link ceramic bracelet. The case uses the brand’s patented Case Suspension System, which Formex describes as four springs integrated between the upper and lower case sections. The company presents this construction as a way to absorb shocks and improve comfort; the available material does not quantify those effects through independent test results.
What movement does it use, and what does COSC certification mean here?
The automatic Soprod Newton P092 is co-developed to Formex specifications. Formex states a 44-hour power reserve and says the caliber is both Chronofiable-tested and COSC-certified.

According to Formex’s Arctic White product page, Chronofiable testing includes accelerated aging, temperature and humidity cycles, and 20,000 shocks. The manufacturer says the movement then undergoes COSC certification under ISO 3159 over 15 days, in five positions and three temperatures; only movements averaging −4/+6 seconds per day pass. Formex also says each watch ships with a COSC certificate and an individually engraved chronometer number. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of its testing and certification process.
How do the bracelet clasp and strap options work?
Formex says the ceramic bracelet clasp can be adjusted while the watch is on the wrist, without opening the clasp. Its product copy gives conflicting details for the adjustment increments: 1.5mm steps in the body text versus four 1.25mm steps in the specifications. The total adjustment is described as 5mm, but the exact step arrangement is not consistent across the page, so it is best not to rely on a particular increment.

- Water-resistant to 100 meters: Suitable for daily hand washing and rain exposure. Not suitable for hot showers or saunas, as high-temperature steam may damage the waterproof gasket. When submerged, ensure the crown is fully screwed down. Avoid operating the crown or pushers underwater to prevent moisture from entering the movement.
Formex lists quick-release alternatives in rubber, nylon, and Italian leather. Check compatibility for the exact watch and strap before ordering: a nominal lug width alone does not confirm fit with a proprietary quick-release interface.
How much did it cost at launch, and what should buyers check now?
Fratello reported September 2025 launch retail prices of €3,490, US$3,690, and £2,990, including applicable taxes, tariffs, duties, and shipping. These are historical launch figures, not a current quote. A Formex Arctic White product page displayed CHF2,990 and “completely sold out” when accessed on October 7, 2026; that is a time-sensitive listing for one variant and regional page, not a statement about the current price or availability of every dial.

Fratello reported a three-year warranty for the reviewed model and described bracelet and alternative Formex strap options. Confirm current warranty terms, regional pricing, availability, and the included configuration with Formex or an authorized seller before purchase.

Its strongest case is the combination of full ceramic construction, a movement with COSC certification and manufacturer-described Chronofiable testing, and a practical on-wrist micro-adjustment feature. The dimensions and the single reported fit experience offer some guidance, but trying it on is the surest way to assess the size and the distinctive suspension feel. The design is deliberately technical; Fratello’s reviewer admired the finishing but personally would not choose it because of the styling. That is a useful reminder that its visual character is a matter of taste, not a technical shortcoming.
