For a summer watch that can move from poolside to the sea, Monochrome Watches’ July 2025 guide highlights six distinct dive watches, from a compact 38 mm design to a 43 mm titanium model rated to 1,000 m. The selection is an editorial roundup, not a ranking or a claim that these are the six best dive watches overall. Compare fit, materials, bezel and strap choices, and price—not just the depth number.
How to choose among these six dive watches
The models in Monochrome Watches’ 13 July 2025 guide range from 38 mm to 43 mm in stated case diameter. Five are listed at 300 m water resistance; the Tudor Pelagos Ultra is listed at 1,000 m. Those ratings are product specifications, not a recommendation for a particular dive or a substitute for maker guidance and suitable dive practice.
For everyday wear, consider case size and thickness, weight, how the dial and bezel work for you, and whether you prefer a bracelet or strap. The guide does not provide a comparable thickness or weight for all six, so those details should be checked against the exact current reference before buying. Prices below are those reported by Monochrome in July 2025, not verified current prices.

What distinguishes each pick
Longines Legend Diver 39mm White: compact case, distinctive bezel
The 39 mm steel case and white dial make this the guide’s compact, light-dial option. Its rotating bezel sits inside the case rather than as a conventional external ring, and the beads-of-rice bracelet gives it a different look from the more overtly technical titanium choices. The guide lists calibre L888.6 but gives conflicting reserve figures—72 hours in its quick facts and up to 76 hours in its prose—so verify the specification for the exact current reference before relying on a number.
Tudor Pelagos Ultra: the highest stated depth rating
The 43 mm titanium Pelagos Ultra is the largest and highest-rated watch in this selection. Tudor confirms its 1,000 m water resistance, 65-hour power reserve, COSC and METAS certification, titanium bracelet with T-fit clasp, and included black rubber strap on the official product page. The larger case may suit someone who wants a substantial presence, but case diameter alone cannot establish how a watch will fit a particular wrist.
Rank #2
- Stainless steel case 43mm diameter x 12mm thick; Black dial; Luminous hands and hour markers
- Japanese quartz movement, PC32 Caliber; Assembled in Japan; SR626SW battery included; Watch weight: 170 grams

- Flame Fusion crystal; Screw down crown; Uni-directional stainless steel bezel with black top bezel ring; 100 meter water resistant: Suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports. Not suitable for diving
LAVENTURE Marine Type 3: small titanium case and limited dial runs
The Marine Type 3 pairs a 38 mm grade 23 titanium case with a 300 m rating and a Sellita SW300-based automatic movement. Monochrome reports 56 hours of reserve and 100 pieces in each of the black and luminous white dial colours. The guide’s CHF 4,200 price and edition details are not confirmation of present availability.
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 38mm: precious-metal choice and long reserve
This 38 mm Fifty Fathoms is listed in stainless steel, titanium and 18k red gold, all with a 300 m rating. The guide reports calibre 1150 with a 100-hour reserve and options for bracelet, rubber or textile straps. Its July 2025 price range is wide because it depends on material; compare the precise configuration rather than treating the range as one model price.
Rank #3
- Stainless steel case 40mm diameter x 14.1mm thick; Exhibition case back; Black dial; Luminous hands.Band Length: 205mm
- NH35A Japanese Automatic movement, 24 jewel; Assembled in Malaysia; Watch weight 155 grams
- Includes gift box, instructions and 3 year limited manufacturer warranty; Invicta Customer Service can be reached at 1-800-327-7682 for questions (re: Additional links, band replacement, band adjustment, warranty questions, etc.)
Certina DS Action Diver 40.5: lower reported price, steel or titanium
The 40.5 mm DS Action Diver is listed in steel and titanium versions, with a ceramic bezel insert and 300 m rating. Monochrome reports the Powermatic 80.611 movement’s 80-hour reserve. Its CHF 785–895 guide price varies by configuration and is dated July 2025, so check the local price and exact reference.
Seiko Prospex SPB501 PADI Special: green dial and two strap options
The 40 mm steel SPB501 is identified by its green wave-pattern dial and PADI Special designation. The guide lists 300 m water resistance, Seiko calibre 6R55 with a 72-hour reserve, a steel bracelet and a green nylon NATO-style strap. Check the precise reference and seller when looking for the Seiko Prospex SPB501 PADI Special; the guide does not verify live stock or seller identity.
Rank #4
- Stainless Steel case with Black Resin Band
- Black Dial with date window at 3 O'clock
- Luminous markers and hour hands; sweep second hand
- Anti-reverse bezel
- Water-resistant to 200 M (660 feet)
What the depth ratings do—and do not—tell you
A higher water-resistance rating is not, by itself, a reason to choose one watch over another. The five 300 m ratings in this selection and Tudor’s 1,000 m rating describe product specifications; they do not establish suitability for an individual’s planned dive. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use equipment appropriate to the activity. If fit, comfort or legibility matters to you, try the watch on and assess it directly rather than inferring those qualities from its specifications.
For scale, the ratings in this roundup are not the upper limit for specialist watches. Rolex lists its Deepsea at 3,900 m and describes a Ringlock system and helium escape valve on its official Deepsea page. That is context, not another pick in Monochrome’s six-watch summer selection.
