The Casio G-SHOCK MRG-G1000 is a full-metal MR-G that pairs titanium construction and shock-resistant design with Tough Solar power and GPS plus terrestrial radio timekeeping. Introduced in the MR-G history in December 2014, it marked a shift from metal G-SHOCK construction toward a watch that can update its time using either satellite or radio signals. The exact specifications and availability depend on the reference suffix and market.
What is the G-SHOCK MRG-G1000?
The MRG-G1000 is a premium, full-metal G-SHOCK in Casio’s MR-G line. Casio describes the MRG-G1000B-1A as its first model to combine shock-resistant construction and GPS hybrid radio solar timekeeping in a full-metal case. That is Casio’s product claim, not an independently established industry-wide first. Casio’s US product page calls MR-G G-SHOCK’s most luxurious line.
The model’s place in the collection is clearer in the context of its history: Casio dates the first MR-G, the MRG-100-1, to November 1996, describing it as the first metal G-SHOCK. The official succession history places the MRG-G1000B-1A in December 2014 and highlights Smart Access, Clad Guard Structure, and solar-powered GPS and radio control. Casio’s MR-G history therefore presents the G1000 as a milestone in the line’s evolution, rather than simply another metal case.
How GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor keeps time
Casio calls the system GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor. It combines GPS satellite reception with terrestrial Multi Band 6 radio reception, while Tough Solar supplies power. Casio says GPS reception can provide location and time information; the watch uses approximately 500 m high-resolution map data to determine location and analyzes time-zone and daylight-saving information. The terrestrial system receives time signals from six stations around the world. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent reception tests. Casio’s international MRG-G1000B-1A specifications describe the system as intended to display the correct time worldwide.

GPS satellite reception
GPS reception gives the watch a way to obtain location and time information from satellites, which Casio says it uses to determine the relevant time zone and daylight-saving status. Reception depends on conditions; the product description does not establish that the watch will receive a signal in every location or situation.
Terrestrial radio reception
Multi Band 6 is the second route to time updates, using terrestrial signals from six stations worldwide. Casio notes that indoor reception is possible where conditions are favorable, such as near a window. Neither the indoor example nor the system description guarantees reception in a particular building.

- The product video shows "fluorine elastomer band", but this product is a composite band (resin x fine resin with metal parts embedded). It also features a double locking one-push tri-fold clasp with an extension mechanism that allows you to easily adjust the band when wearing a wetsuit
- G-SHOCK "Frogman" series analog display model with ISO standard 200 m submersible waterproofing to support underwater missions
- Dive mode / Tide graph mode to support diving activities: Dive mode to show diving time and surface rest time. Tide graph mode displays tide information anywhere and current time in that city. Analog display of useful functions for diving activities
- Bluetooth Radio Solar: Support Bluetooth, standard radio wave time correction. Equipped with tough solar, it is stable to drive various functions
- Smartphone Link: Dedicated app allows you to easily set tide data around 3000 locations around the world in the app. You can also check the dive logs on your smartphone and enjoy the data measured on the watch side
Solar power
Tough Solar powers the watch’s timekeeping system. The cited product page specifies solar power but does not state a battery-replacement interval or an independently measured runtime.

Casio describes a clad guard structure that integrates the crown, buttons, and guards. It also says αGEL in the crown head cover helps absorb shocks to the crown body. These are the manufacturer’s explanations of the design and intended protection.
The cited B-1A listing specifies Deep Layer Hardening plus DLC coating. Casio says the deep hardening treatment provides 4 to 5 times the hardness of pure titanium; this is a treatment claim from the manufacturer, not an independent measurement of the complete watch. The same listing includes a Super Illuminator LED and a screw-lock crown.

How MRG-G1000 variants differ
Variant suffixes matter. The cited references do not support treating every MRG-G1000 as an identical watch with only a different regional label. Casio’s pages establish these distinctions:
| Reference | Market and page detail | Availability or price shown |
|---|---|---|
| MRG-G1000B-1A | US and international product listings; the US page describes black DLC/deep-hardening treatment, while the international page provides the specifications above. | Casio US lists $3,000 and marks it “Sold Out.” |
| MRG-G1000B-1AJR | Japanese regional reference. | Casio Japan marks it discontinued. |
| MRG-G1000DC-1AJR | Japanese regional reference with a Ti64 titanium bezel, according to Casio Japan. | Casio Japan marks it discontinued; its page gives a February 2016 release and a historical list price of ¥308,000 including tax. |
The ¥308,000 figure is the historical Japanese list price shown for the DC-1AJR, not a current price. The cited pages do not provide a complete side-by-side specification list for all finishes, nor do they establish current inventory beyond the status shown on Casio’s own pages. Consult the exact reference, market, finish, band, condition, and warranty when comparing examples.

Is the MRG-G1000 still available?
Casio’s US listing for MRG-G1000B-1A shows a listed price of $3,000 and the status “Sold Out.” Casio Japan marks MRG-G1000B-1AJR and MRG-G1000DC-1AJR discontinued. Those manufacturer listings do not establish global stock or availability from independent sellers. If considering a pre-owned or remaining-stock example, confirm the complete suffix, condition, seller legitimacy, warranty, and parts and service support before purchase. Casio Japan’s B-1AJR page and DC-1AJR page show the regional product status.
