Casio’s $80,000 G-SHOCK is the MR-G MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire, a limited edition with a bezel made entirely of blue sapphire crystal. Casio says it will make 20 worldwide; Casio America has announced six U.S. pieces, valued at $80,000 each, with staggered U.S. availability planned from December 2026 through June 2027. That figure and schedule apply to the U.S. announcement, not necessarily to other markets.
Which G-SHOCK is valued at $80,000?
It is the MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire, a new model in G-SHOCK’s flagship MR-G collection—not the earlier one-off G-D001 gold Dream Project watch. Casio announced the MRG-D5000 on October 1, 2026. The blue-sapphire bezel and limited production distinguish it from standard G-SHOCK models.
Casio America describes the value of each of its six U.S. pieces as $80,000. The international announcement establishes a 20-piece worldwide edition, but the cited sources do not establish a single global price or the purchase process in every country. Casio’s international announcement and Casio America’s U.S. release provide the respective details.
What is made of sapphire—and how is it built?
Casio says the bezel is rendered entirely in blue sapphire crystal. It does not say the entire watch, or every part of its case, is sapphire. The case and bezel use a multi-component construction that Casio calls its MR-G Multi-Guard Structure. According to the company, the components are assembled without screws that could cause sapphire crystal to crack.

- Bluetooth Smartphone Link
Casio calls the MRG-D5000 the first G-SHOCK to achieve a shock-resistant structure using components made with blue sapphire crystal. That is the manufacturer’s product claim; the sources cited here do not establish an independent test or review.
The idea took years to develop, according to Casio Singapore. The company says its G-SHOCK team presented a sapphire concept in Basel in 2018, but had not then achieved the shock resistance and other specifications needed for production. MR-G development continued afterward. Casio Singapore’s account of the development describes that history.

- Worldwide edition: 20 pieces, according to Casio Computer Co., Ltd.
- U.S. allocation: Casio America says six pieces are planned for the United States.
- U.S. timing: Casio America announced staggered availability from December 2026 through June 2027. This is a future schedule in the October 2026 announcement, not confirmation that deliveries have happened.
- U.S. valuation: $80,000 per piece, as stated by Casio America. The release does not establish that this valuation applies globally.
For the U.S. process, Casio’s official MRG-D5000 product page describes registration, eligibility, selection, and a possible private, time-limited invitation to purchase. Check the page for current terms rather than assuming registration guarantees a watch. The official sources cited here do not establish an Amazon listing or current stock.
How does it differ from Casio’s other sapphire-accented releases?
Casio America also announced two less expensive G-SHOCK models with November 2026 availability. They are not equivalent alternatives to the blue-sapphire MRG-D5000: one is an MR-G model, while the other has four sapphire stones set at the front of its bezel.

The price and scarcity put the MRG-D5000 in a very different bracket from ordinary G-SHOCK releases. Casio’s stated case for this edition is its blue-sapphire bezel construction, specialized multi-component structure, and 20-piece worldwide limit. Those details explain what sets it apart; they do not determine whether it is worth $80,000 to a particular buyer.
