The update was reported for Bluetooth and LTE models, with firmware versions ending in AZB1. Samsung’s February security package lists 37 fixes, but that total covers a broader set of Samsung and Google components—not 37 vulnerabilities confirmed to be exclusive to these watches.
Which Galaxy watches received the update?
The reported rollout covered the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, including Bluetooth and LTE variants. The initial reports did not include the Galaxy Watch Ultra; it was still waiting when the Watch 8 rollout began. “Galaxy Watch 8 Series” should therefore be read here as the Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, not every Samsung watch released in 2025. SamMobile’s rollout report and Android Headlines’ coverage identify Bluetooth and LTE availability.
What the update includes
Samsung’s February 2026 Security Maintenance Release lists 25 Google CVE items and 12 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items, for a package-level total of 37. Samsung lists no critical Google patches in that package and describes the Google fixes primarily as high severity. The SVE items include issues involving access control, authorization, privilege management, input validation and path traversal. Samsung’s February 2026 bulletin is the source for the counts and issue descriptions.
That total is not evidence of 37 newly disclosed flaws specific to the Galaxy Watch 8. The package covers Samsung software and Android components across device families; Samsung also notes that some fixes may already have appeared in earlier maintenance releases and that device-specific patches can vary. Its security-update guidance explains that patch delivery depends on model and region.

Why a February security update arrived in March
The month in the patch label is not necessarily the month a particular device receives it. Samsung published its February 2026 security bulletin on February 3; reports identified the Watch 8 rollout on March 4–5. Firmware validation and distribution for a watch can follow a different schedule from the bulletin or a phone update. The rollout dates were reported by Sammy Fans and SamMobile.
Firmware identifier and download size
Look for a firmware version ending in AZB1. That is a reported build suffix, not a universal complete version string: the full identifier can differ by model, region, carrier and Bluetooth or LTE configuration. A different-looking build number alone does not show that a watch is missing a security fix; compare it with information for the exact model and market.

One report put the download at about 430 MB. Treat that as an observed size, not a guaranteed figure: the OTA package can vary according to the watch, region, starting firmware and update path. Sammy Fans reported the approximate size.
How to check for and install the update
- On the watch, open Settings.
- Select Watch software update.
- Tap Download and install, then follow any on-screen prompts.
Before starting, charge the watch sufficiently and, if possible, keep it near its paired phone and connected to Wi-Fi. Leave it on the charger and do not interrupt the installation. Back up important settings and health data through the normal Samsung or Galaxy Wearable backup process if that option is available on your device. Menu wording can vary slightly with One UI Watch version, region and whether you start from the watch or Galaxy Wearable.

If the update is not showing
Samsung distributes security updates by model and region, so availability may not be simultaneous across markets, carriers or connectivity variants. If the watch has not found the update, try these checks:
- Confirm whether the device is a Galaxy Watch 8 or Watch 8 Classic and whether it is Bluetooth or LTE.
- Check the installed software and security version in the watch’s settings.
- Restart the watch and paired phone, then make sure the Galaxy Wearable app and its watch plug-in are up to date.
- Run Settings > Watch software update > Download and install again, and check later if it remains unavailable.
- Do not sideload firmware from unofficial sources. If the rollout is established for your exact model and region but the watch remains on an older patch, contact Samsung support.
Is it a feature update, and should you install it?
Coverage characterized this release as a security and stability update; no major new user-facing features were reported. That does not rule out undocumented fixes or regional adjustments, and there is no basis in the cited reports to promise better battery life, faster performance or a fix for a particular sensor, GPS, Bluetooth or notification problem.

Eligible owners should generally install security maintenance once it is available for their model. If you rely on the watch for a time-sensitive workout, trip, medical-monitoring routine or LTE connection, choose a time when you can leave it charging and avoid interrupting the process.
