Samsung announced the wider rollout on November 19, 2024, but availability was staggered by model, region, carrier, and Bluetooth or LTE configuration. A confirmed Galaxy Watch4 Bluetooth firmware record shows build R870XXU1IXK1 arriving on December 11, 2024.
This is now a historical update rather than the Watch4’s current software generation: by August 18, 2026, Samsung’s firmware history showed later Wear OS and One UI Watch releases for at least some Watch4 variants.

When did the stable update arrive?
November 19, 2024 was Samsung’s announcement date for the expanding rollout, not a universal delivery date for every Watch4. Bluetooth and LTE editions use different firmware and could receive updates at different times. Regional versions and carrier-branded LTE models could also follow separate schedules.
Samsung’s official firmware history provides a more precise device-level example. The Galaxy Watch4 Bluetooth model SM-R870 received One UI 6 Watch build R870XXU1IXK1 on December 11, 2024, with Wear OS 5—labelled Android Wear 5 on the firmware page—and the October 1, 2024 security patch. That build applies to SM-R870, not every Watch4 model. Check the official SM-R870 changelog for the complete record.
What One UI 6 Watch added to the Watch4
Energy Score
Energy Score combines selected indicators including sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate, and sleeping heart-rate variability to produce a personalized daily wellness score.
It is a wellness tool, not a medical diagnosis or a direct measurement of overall health. Its availability also depends on the watch, paired phone, Samsung Health, Samsung account, and regional support.

Personalized health recommendations
Galaxy AI-powered recommendations use Samsung Health data to provide more personalized guidance. Samsung’s requirements vary by feature, but AI-related functionality may require a compatible Android phone, an up-to-date Samsung Health app, and a Samsung account.
For Energy Score-related features, Samsung specified select Android phones running Android 10 or later, Samsung Health version 6.27 or later, and a Samsung account. These requirements should not be assumed to apply identically to every One UI 6 Watch function. See Samsung’s feature and compatibility notes.
Expanded sleep analysis
The update added or expanded sleep-related insights including:

- Movement during sleep
- Sleep latency
- Heart rate
- Respiratory rate
These measurements depend on the watch’s sensors and software, Samsung Health, and the connected phone configuration. They are not equivalent to clinical sleep testing.

New watch faces
The SM-R870 changelog specifically lists new watch faces including Spatial Number, Simple Digital, and Ultra Info Board. Exact watch-face availability can vary by model and region.
Interface and Galaxy-device changes
Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch overview describes a refreshed interface, updated health insights, fitness tools, new watch faces, and closer integration with other Galaxy devices. The Watch4 hardware itself did not change: its processor, sensors, screen, and battery remained the same.
What the Watch4 did not get
One UI 6 Watch should not be treated as Watch7 or Watch Ultra hardware parity. The Watch4 retains its older Exynos W920 processor, existing sensors, and the condition of its aging battery. Hardware-dependent functions cannot be added through software alone.
Feature availability may differ according to:
- Watch model and case variant
- Bluetooth or LTE configuration
- Country, region, and carrier
- Paired smartphone and Android version
- Samsung Health version
- Samsung account status
- Hardware limitations
Non-Samsung Android phones may support the watch, but Samsung-specific health and AI features may require a Galaxy phone, Samsung Health, or a Samsung account. Do not assume that every feature works identically on Galaxy, Pixel, Motorola, or OnePlus phones.

- Open Galaxy Wearable.
- Select the connected watch.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Choose Watch software update.
- Tap Download and install if an update is offered.
- Leave the watch connected until installation finishes and it restarts.
Samsung documents this process in its Galaxy Watch software-update guide. Menu names can differ slightly according to the Galaxy Wearable version and phone language.

A missing update does not necessarily mean that the watch is unsupported. Work through these checks:
- Confirm the watch is paired and connected in Galaxy Wearable.
- Update Galaxy Wearable through the relevant app store.
- Update Samsung Health and Samsung Members where applicable.
- Restart both the phone and watch.
- Check again using Wi-Fi or a stable mobile connection.
- Confirm the exact model number, region, and Bluetooth or LTE edition.
- Allow time for the staged rollout to reach the device.
Avoid installing firmware from another region unless you understand the compatibility and recovery risks. Samsung’s firmware records warn that changes can vary by model, country, and service provider.

If the watch was running beta software, check its installed build and release channel before troubleshooting. Beta participants may follow a different transition path from users on stable firmware.

How to confirm that stable One UI 6 Watch is installed
Use the watch’s software-information screen or inspect the connected device in Galaxy Wearable. Confirm the:
- One UI Watch version
- Wear OS or Android Wear version
- Build number
- Security patch level
For reference, R870XXU1IXK1 is the confirmed One UI 6 Watch build for the SM-R870 Bluetooth model. Other Watch4 and Watch4 Classic variants use different identifiers, so the absence of this exact number does not indicate a problem.
Is One UI 6 Watch worth installing on a Galaxy Watch4?
Yes, if the update is offered for your supported Watch4 and the watch is working normally. It adds newer health, sleep, interface, and watch-face features without requiring a new watch. It also extends the usefulness of a 2021 smartwatch.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Do not expect the update to improve an exhausted battery, speed up aging hardware to Watch7 levels, add newer sensors, or guarantee every Galaxy AI feature. Major updates can temporarily increase battery use while the watch reindexes data and synchronizes apps; persistent battery problems may instead indicate battery degradation.
As of August 18, 2026, One UI 6 Watch is no longer the latest Watch4 software. Samsung’s firmware history shows later Wear OS and One UI Watch releases for at least some supported variants. If you are checking for an update today, install the newest compatible version offered for your exact model rather than looking specifically for One UI 6 Watch.
Keep the Watch4 or upgrade?
Keep and update the Watch4 if its battery, performance, display, and sensors still meet your needs. Consider a newer Galaxy Watch only if you need better battery endurance, newer health hardware, a brighter or more durable display, LTE, faster performance, or a longer remaining support horizon. Samsung’s current watch range is listed at Samsung’s official watch page.
