Samsung’s 2025 lineup has three different watches, not three versions of the same watch: the Galaxy Watch8 is the mainstream model, the Galaxy Watch8 Classic adds a physical rotating bezel, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) is a 47mm LTE-only rugged model. U.S. MSRP starts at $349.99 for the 40mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Watch8, while the Classic starts at $499.99 and the Ultra costs $649.99.
Samsung’s 2025 Galaxy Watch lineup has three distinct choices: the mainstream Galaxy Watch8 in 40mm or 44mm, the 46mm Galaxy Watch8 Classic with a physical rotating bezel, and the 47mm LTE-only Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). Samsung announced all three on July 9, 2025, opened preorders the same day, and began general availability on July 25, 2025.
For U.S. buyers, listed MSRP runs from $349.99 to $429.99 for the Galaxy Watch8, $499.99 to $549.99 for the Galaxy Watch8 Classic, and $649.99 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). Samsung’s live store may show temporary sale prices, trade-in values, or carrier incentives, so those offers should not be confused with standard MSRP.
Galaxy Watch8 lineup: prices at a glance
| Model | Size | Connectivity | U.S. MSRP | What distinguishes it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch8 | 40mm | Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | $349.99 | Smallest and least expensive version |
| Galaxy Watch8 | 40mm | LTE | $399.99 | Can use cellular service when activated with a compatible plan |
| Galaxy Watch8 | 44mm | Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | $379.99 | Larger display and battery |
| Galaxy Watch8 | 44mm | LTE | $429.99 | Larger Watch8 with cellular connectivity |
| Galaxy Watch8 Classic | 46mm | Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | $499.99 | Rotating physical bezel, Quick Button, classic styling |
| Galaxy Watch8 Classic | 46mm | LTE | $549.99 | Classic design with cellular connectivity |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) | 47mm | LTE only | $649.99 | Titanium case and rugged Ultra design |
The central product for most shoppers is the Samsung Galaxy Watch8. It offers the same core Watch8-generation platform as the Classic while costing substantially less. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic 46mm is the design-led alternative for shoppers who specifically want a rotating bezel. The Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) 47mm LTE is the premium rugged option, but it is not a Bluetooth-only watch.

MSRP versus Samsung sale prices
Samsung’s official retail pages can display a promotional “from” price below the standard list price. For example, the Watch8 overview page has displayed a starting price of $299.99, while Samsung’s U.S. MSRP document lists the 40mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model at $349.99.
When comparing offers, separate these figures:
- MSRP: the standard U.S. list price for the exact size and connectivity configuration.
- Samsung promotional price: a temporary direct-store discount that can change or expire.
- Trade-in value: a conditional reduction based on the device you send in and its eligibility.
- Carrier incentive: a discount or credit that may require activation, an eligible plan, or other terms.
A “from” price does not tell you the price of every size or LTE configuration. Check the selected case size, connectivity, trade-in requirement, and promotion dates before treating an offer as comparable.
Galaxy Watch8 sizes, dimensions, and weights
The 40mm, 44mm, 46mm, and 47mm labels refer primarily to the watch’s case-size class. They are not direct measurements of display diameter. Case dimensions, thickness, weight, display size, and battery capacity are more useful when deciding which model will fit your wrist and daily routine.
| Model | Case dimensions | Weight | Display | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch8 40mm | 40.4 × 42.7 × 8.6mm | 30.0g | 1.34-inch, 438 × 438 | 325mAh |
| Galaxy Watch8 44mm | 43.7 × 46.0 × 8.6mm | 34.0g | 1.47-inch, 480 × 480 | 435mAh |
| Galaxy Watch8 Classic 46mm | 46.4 × 46.0 × 10.6mm | 63.5g | 1.34-inch, 438 × 438 | 445mAh |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) 47mm | Samsung’s U.S. listing identifies it as a 47mm model | Not specified in the supplied U.S. listing | Not specified in the supplied comparison data | Not specified in the supplied comparison data |
Which Watch8 size should you choose?
- Choose the 40mm Watch8 if you prefer a lighter, smaller watch or have a smaller wrist. Its 30g case and 325mAh battery make it the compact option.
- Choose the 44mm Watch8 if you want more screen area and the larger 435mAh battery. It weighs only 4g more than the 40mm version, but its case is visibly larger.
- Choose the 46mm Classic if the physical rotating bezel and traditional watch appearance matter more than a thin, lightweight case. It is 10.6mm thick and weighs 63.5g.
- Choose the 47mm Ultra if you specifically want the Ultra’s titanium, rugged design and built-in LTE. It is a single-size premium model rather than a small-and-large size range.
Galaxy Watch8 versus Watch8 Classic versus Ultra
Galaxy Watch8: the mainstream choice
The Galaxy Watch8 uses a slim, cushion-shaped case and Samsung’s Dynamic Lug band system. It is available in two case sizes and with either Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE. The 40mm model starts at $349.99, while the larger 44mm version starts at $379.99.
Both Watch8 sizes use Samsung’s Exynos W1000 five-core 3nm processor, 2GB of memory, 32GB of storage, and Samsung’s BioActive sensor platform. The Watch8-series specification table lists 5ATM water resistance, IP68 protection, and MIL-STD-810H durability ratings. Those are published specifications, not a substitute for independent durability or battery testing.
For most buyers who want a current Samsung smartwatch without paying for the Classic’s mechanical bezel or Ultra’s rugged premium design, the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 is the logical starting point. Pick 40mm for compactness and 44mm for the larger display and battery.

- 9H hardness, 99.99% HD clarity, and maintains the original touch experience
- Hydrophobic and oleo-phobic coating to reduce sweat and reduce fingerprints

Galaxy Watch8 Classic: the rotating-bezel option
The Galaxy Watch8 Classic is offered in one 46mm case size in the U.S., with Black and White finishes. Its defining feature is the physical rotating bezel, which provides a tactile way to move through menus and content. It also adds a Quick Button and a sapphire-crystal display, while retaining the Watch8 generation’s Exynos W1000 processor, 2GB of memory, and BioActive sensor platform.
The Classic has 64GB of storage, twice the capacity listed for the standard Watch8, but it is also considerably heavier and thicker: 63.5g and 10.6mm compared with 30.0g and 8.6mm for the 40mm Watch8. Its price is $499.99 for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or $549.99 for LTE.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The Galaxy Watch8 Classic 46mm makes sense for someone who values traditional watch styling and the rotating bezel enough to accept the larger, heavier case and higher price. It is not simply a larger Watch8; the controls, materials, storage, and design are different.
Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025): the rugged LTE-only model
Samsung’s 2025 Ultra retains the 47mm Ultra design and is listed in the U.S. as an LTE-only smartwatch. It uses a titanium cushion case and is positioned as the rugged member of the lineup. U.S. finishes include Titanium Blue, Titanium Gray, Titanium Silver, and Titanium White.
The 2025 refresh adds more storage and introduces Titanium Blue, but it does not create a new case-size category: it remains a 47mm LTE model with a $649.99 U.S. MSRP. Use the name Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) when distinguishing it from the earlier Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Consider the Galaxy Watch Ultra 47mm only if its rugged titanium design, premium positioning, and LTE connectivity justify the extra cost. It is not the right choice for someone who merely wants the least expensive way to get Samsung’s current smartwatch software.

Release date and availability
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) at Galaxy Unpacked in Brooklyn on July 9, 2025. U.S. preorders opened immediately, and Samsung stated that general retail availability would begin on July 25, 2025.
Because the launch date has passed, shoppers should now compare the exact configuration in stock rather than assume every launch configuration remains available at the same price. In particular, verify whether a displayed price is MSRP, a current Samsung promotion, a trade-in-adjusted figure, or a carrier offer.
Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE: which version do you need?
The Watch8 and Watch8 Classic are sold in Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE configurations. The Ultra (2025) is listed as LTE-only in the U.S.
Bluetooth/Wi-Fi is usually sufficient if your phone is normally nearby and you mainly want notifications, health data, workouts, alarms, and watch apps while carrying the phone with you. It avoids the higher purchase price of the LTE version and does not require a separate cellular watch plan.

LTE functionality generally requires activation with a compatible carrier and may involve a separate smartwatch line or plan. Android and iPhone compatibility
All three watches require a compatible Android phone for setup and full use. Samsung’s compatibility guidance identifies Android 11 or later for the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic, with at least 1.5GB of RAM in the relevant regional guidance.
These watches are not compatible with iPhones. Newer Wear OS Galaxy Watches, including the Watch4 and later generations and the Galaxy Watch Ultra, rely on Google Play services and cannot provide Apple Watch-style iPhone compatibility.

The Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic use Samsung’s Dynamic Lug band system. The release button is on the watch rather than on the band, and these bands are not automatically interchangeable with the ordinary 20mm bands used by many older Galaxy Watch models.
Watch8 and Watch8 Classic bands belong to their own Watch8-series family. The Ultra uses a distinct Ultra Dynamic Lug system and requires Ultra-designed bands. Do not order a generic “20mm Galaxy Watch band” without checking the exact watch model and lug design.

For owners, the most useful accessory searches are a Galaxy Watch8 replacement band or a Galaxy Watch8 Classic band for the Watch8-series lug system. Ultra owners should instead look for a Galaxy Watch Ultra replacement band. Match the accessory to the model before purchasing; Watch8-series and Ultra bands should not be treated as one universal range.
Other accessories worth checking
A spare charger can be practical if you keep one at work, travel frequently, or want a second charging location. Samsung’s published testing identifies a Galaxy Watch Magnetic Fast Charging USB-C Cable, but verify the exact watch and accessory listing before assuming that every Galaxy Watch charger or dock has identical compatibility.
A model-specific screen protector or protective case may also be useful, especially for the larger Classic or rugged Ultra. Check the precise case size and generation: a protector made for an older Galaxy Watch, a 40mm Watch8, a 44mm Watch8, a 46mm Classic, and a 47mm Ultra will not necessarily fit one another.
Which Galaxy Watch should you buy?
| If you want… | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The best balance of price and current features | Galaxy Watch8 40mm or 44mm | Lowest MSRP in the lineup, two sizes, and Bluetooth or LTE choices |
| A compact, lightweight watch | Galaxy Watch8 40mm | 30.0g case, 40mm class, and 325mAh battery |
| A larger display and battery | Galaxy Watch8 44mm | 1.47-inch display and 435mAh battery |
| A traditional watch experience | Galaxy Watch8 Classic 46mm | Physical rotating bezel, Quick Button, and classic styling |
| Rugged titanium styling and LTE | Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) 47mm | Ultra design, titanium case, four U.S. finishes, and LTE-only connectivity |
Galaxy Watch8 lineup: buyer’s checklist
- Confirm that you use a compatible Android phone. iPhone users should not buy these models expecting them to work with iOS.
- Choose the case size: 40mm or 44mm for Watch8, 46mm for Classic, and 47mm for Ultra.
- Decide whether Bluetooth/Wi-Fi is enough or whether you will actually use LTE away from your phone.
- Compare the exact configuration’s MSRP with any current Samsung promotion, trade-in value, or carrier incentive.
- Budget for the correct Dynamic Lug band. Watch8/Classic bands and Ultra bands use different systems.
- For accessories, match the exact model and generation before buying a band, screen protector, case, cable, or dock.

The Bottom Line
The Galaxy Watch8 is the sensible choice for most Android users: choose 40mm for a smaller, lighter case or 44mm for a larger display and battery. Buy the Galaxy Watch8 Classic only if its rotating bezel and traditional styling are priorities. Choose the 47mm Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) for its rugged titanium design and LTE-only setup, not simply because it is the newest or largest-looking option. U.S. MSRP starts at $349.99, and all three models require Android rather than iPhone compatibility.
